This is so much fun!

(I'm sad that nobody wanted to know something about my country, I wanted to answer random things u.u - I'm from Argentina, in case anybody does have a question)

Aww! Okay, I'll bite: is Dulce de Leche really that awesome? I keep hearing friends raving about it and I'm curious!

It IS!!
I dunno how to describe it, it's very sweet and can be used in lots of things, from eating by the spoonful from the jar to filling cakes, and other dessert things. And of course, in alfajores!

I wonder if in other places is sometimes replaced by caramel? Because for example it's used a lot as a cake filler and I see pictures of those and they look like the ones with Dulce de Leche, that always confuses me xD

Now I want to try it even more! :D

And I'm pretty sure it's replaced by caramel sometimes. When I see Dulce de Leche, I'm always reminded of the slightly salty caramel I'm used to and I get hungry just thinking about it.

Thanks!

All I know about Argentina comes from Evita. What is the general Argentinian opinion of that play?

(lol the things I get into, I ask for questions and now dunno how to reply)

I guess here the opinion of the play is heavily coloured by the opinion of Evita herself as a politician (and his husband, of course). Nowadays we have a President who likes to pretend she is "the new Evita" so she is brought up a lot in conversations. Actually they recently announced the 100 pesos bills will have her face on them.
I personally disagree a bit with the hype about her some people like to make, because without getting into too much political detail, but she is know from "helping the poor" and that's great, but it's quite easy to do so if your husband is the President and he's making some business comply or give out things in your name.

Sorry if this is kinda vague! Are there some differences in U.S. culture/attitudes that really stand out to you?

Also, is there a difference in how the youth treats their pop culture? Like, is there peer pressure for people to keep up with the latest music and sensations, or it more relaxed? This questions could go to anyone else outside the US, too.

Uhm let me thing.

The whole high school cliques stands out to me, but maybe it has to do not only with culture but with me having attended a very small school. The Prom is something else that stands out.

Another thing is Universities and the matter of people getting into debt to get a degree. Here (I'm talking about Buenos Aires, the capital city, although of course there are other universities, but I don't have much knowledge about the) we have private Universities but the most recognised is public and completely free. Also, we don't do dorms, everybody commutes to class, some people have to travel quite a bit, but nobody lives there. I would love to have the dorm experience! :(

And regarding the other question, there is peer pressure, as it is everywhere. Maybe the "latest thing" is not the same here than in other places (maybe because of a delay in some thing getting popular abroad, or maybe because a particular popular thing somewhere doesn't "catch" here) but there definitely are things that are "in vogue" and peer pressure to keep up and like them (of course, that doesn't mean everybody does, as it doesn't happen in the US either xD)

"Another thing is Universities and the matter of people getting into debt to get a degree."

Well a lot of us don't like it or think it makes much sense either.

The dorm experience is actually pretty cool though, I'm glad we had that. You're missing out. On the other hand, you're not laden with debt, so, you know, we'll call it even I guess.
