lol i expected a lot more wank from this

wondering if some sort of psychological study can be done on how much influence the first few commenters have on setting the tone for the rest of the thread.

If you go back through all the posts and collect the data, I'll do a statistical analysis. We'd have to come up with some metrics first, though.

as interesting as i find this, i'm waaaaay too lazy to actually conduct a study haha

though i'm curious as to how one might actually measure this. proportion of negative responses from first 10% of commenters compared to the proportion of negative responses from rest of thread? comparison of number of times someone is accused of being a troll in the first 10% of commenters compared to the rest of the thread? would we have to discount the obvious troll secrets as outliers? how does one qualify a comment as being negative?

so many questions for this hypothetical study
