Occasionally I sulk and whine about crap writers like EL James and Stephenie Myer getting all the money and success for writing crap books while awesome writers like myself are drowning in debt while our writing languishes unappreciated and unremarked on by fandom at large.

And then I remember it's because no matter what I think of their writing, they're the ones who got off their asses and put the work in.

And then I get over myself.

You should probably do the same.

da
No, but I can masturbate relatively unmessily. No need for towels or anything.

I'm sorry. A friend of mine died in a crash a few months ago, I understand the feeling.

And a story for you: I've just discovered that Viggo Mortensen loved the horse he rode on in Lord of the Rings so much that he bought the horse from its owner. He also bought Arwen's horse at an auction and gave it to her stunt double who couldn't afford it and who adored this horse. I love sweet stories like this one. I have another one, about Robert Downey Jr: he was once at an event and an elderly woman, a normal, regular woman, fell down and hurt herself. He stayed by her side, spread out his jacket for her to lie on and didn't leave until the EMT arrived.

And considering how many people don't get that it's a parody, yes, yes, I am.

:O Anon! You can't make a secret like this and then not tell us which books you'd pick to send them. (If you're judging your friends' reading tastes, we should get to judge yours in return.)

I think it's Lost the tv series.

Ratchet? From Ratchet and Clank? There's a fandom?

yet another DA

I don't worry about gushing, I worry more about getting things accidentally smeared on sheets. I don't want it to be there then I don't notice and sleep in it

Ratchet from Transformers

(Anonymous) 2012-09-15 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, this. The length and style look a lot better, he just looks like he needs a shower. Though his hair looked kind of greasy and oily and full of gunk in Thor, too- hair does not usually stay slicked back on its own (especially if it's curly, like Hiddlesotn's).

(Anonymous) 2012-09-15 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah...I have a friend at Oxford and she's...totally still there.

[personal profile] deadtree 2012-09-15 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
well Loki is *supposed* to look dirty and greasy and gross so there's also that

(Anonymous) 2012-09-15 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, me too. And some black people. And some Asians. Fucking people, eh?

(Anonymous) 2012-09-15 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Reason #11 why I leave him to all the other fans.

(That, and he's boooooring. BORING.)

Riff Raff from RHPS - also "evil, balding, and greasy" was 10x sexier.

once someone pointed out to me that he and his team are getting progressively greasier and more tired-eyed throughout the film (thus they haven't been showering or sleeping), I became more sympathetic to it, but yeah. The greasy Christmas tree is nagl even for Loki.

Rec me a book (for Kindle).

(Anonymous) 2012-09-15 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I desperately need some light reading to distract me from my PhD tonight. I've just reread Hunger Games, and Never Let Me Go, and finished Unwind today so I'm kind of on a YA dystopian fic. But I'll try anything.

Bonuses:
* Horror elements
* Interesting protaganist
* Femslash over- or undertones
* No crappy sexist gender-stereotyping.

But really I'm just looking for something well-written. I trust F!S more than Amazon recs.

IDK man, obviously I don't have personal experience with this one, but that sounds like half the fandom's I've been in. It can make things unpleasant if you're on the opposite side of it, but...it happens.

I'm admittedly impatient and pretty selfish :(

I couldn't even wait the extra three hours for the new Doctor Who episode to air in my country, so I already went ahead and watched the version that already aired in the first country. The internet spoiled me, and it turned me into a media glutton, and my stomach is a bottomless whining pit that needs to be fed everything now now now now NOWWWWW.

Well, consider this - there are still fans for ST:TOS, and that's even older. :p
(yes, yes, not entirely pertinent.)

Anyhow, come to Yuletide! Ask for and offer to write it!
