Yeah, that kind of bothers me too. I mean, it's not like I really care about seeing a double upload of Teahouse of all things, but it annoys me that they keep promising and end up disappointing people. Your readers wouldn't get as ticked off at you if you didn't promise to do it in the first place! Just stick to saying that there will be a weekly upload, jeez.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-18 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Is this Teahouse? Because I read the entire thing last night and kept thinking "huh, every update this person is apologizing for something. That would be annoying if I cared."

This is why Boy Meets Teahouse is the best thing ever. It updates only in your brain and it's hotter.

I did (and thought) the exact same thing. Damn, every single page is an apology, going back YEARS.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-18 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I guess they feel pressured by their fans who keep saying things like "OMG MORE TREEHOUSE. DAILY UPDATES PLZ" or whatever. But Jesus, if you have this kind of track record with making and breaking promises just stop promising shit. It just makes fans agitated every time something promised ended up not delivered.

Can't all be Andrew Hussie.

The internet might go down when updates happened if they were all Andrew Hussie.

I've been guilty of this and I hereby apologise.

You see though, to me it's a way of trying to motivate myself/force myself to actually reach that goal. But sometimes it just doesn't work out.

Huh, I was going to make a secret touching on this.

Teahouse pisses me the fuck off because of shit like this. Yes, they don't owe us anything, but if you're going to say you have an update schedule, then fucking follow it instead of just giving out excuses every week. Why not have things ready in advance, instead of constant "I'm still coloring the page, wah," late Wednesday night?

It's annoying enough that even if I did care, I can honestly say I would never pay for anything from them.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-18 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I love double uploads months. But if it causes too much stress for the creators they really should stop it. It wasn't that long ago when we had the last double upload month and I imagine they'll be doing it again for December (since it'll be Christmas). I know they want to spoil fans and keep everyone happy but I think it would be better if they tried not to do so much for a while.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-19 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
Oh boo hoo. This thing I like and get to enjoy for free is not ready at the exact moment that I want it to be.

lol at this point I'd rather they just go pay-to-read, because now I'm into the story and I want more! I don't usually read webcomics so the update schedule is weird for me.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-19 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Then just check it on some kind of regular basis and stop paying attention to what they say. You find two new pages? Surprise for you.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-19 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
As someone who does a webcomic...I totally agree. Just stick with a consistent update schedule.

And if they're REALLY getting the flu that often they're probably too stressed out. Take a month off. Draw something else. I had to take a year Hiatus because my life situation wasn't allowing for me to update. It happens.

I LOVE Teahouse. It's Beautiful, but...

[personal profile] ex_paola492 2012-09-19 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
I think that promising double updates makes them stressed, then they get sick due to stress. Wash, rinse, repeat. It's an endless cycle.

(Though I do often wish there where more Space Porno updates)

(Anonymous) 2012-09-19 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
It would better, I should think, for this specimen to be captured and quarantined. Clearly, given its history, it harbors some vile contagion that will inevitably break forth and disturb the general population. There is a very real threat of pandemic, here. And even should this line of thought prove faulty, it is always better to prepare for the worst.

[personal profile] darkmanifest 2012-09-19 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
Considering how hard it is to find a webcomic that updates consistently once a week, let alone one that does it in color, I don't know why the Teahouse creators feel the need to promise stress themselves out like this at all. I don't recall seeing anyone unhappy about getting one page every Monday, and if they were, they needed to fuck off.

But lol at calling getting sick "an excuse". I mean, sure, I have all my future illnesses scheduled in an orderly fashion, but you can't expect that of everyone.

NGL, I love just watching people jizz themselves over them and make excuses for them to boot. Also, FTR, posting the LAST second of Wednesday does not count as posting on Wednesday. Just say you'll do it Thursday, guys.

Also, most boring malexmale relationships ever.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-19 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
I guess I'll go with the unpopular opinion and say yes, you do sound fucking entitled.

I know broken promises suck, but you want someone to keep a deadline? Fucking pay them. If not, you have no right to say anything.

I used to draw webcomics and I never promised any update schedule for these reasons, and I STILL got people bitching at me about when I updated. Even if you try to be realistic about it people are really annoying about things they get for free that you have to pay money to do.

I miss doing comics but sorry I'm an adult, if you want stuff from me you have to pay me. I'm so sick of this artists should bend over backwards for their fans shit, I get sick and I have to pay my bills like everyone else.

It does suck that they keep missing things they promise, getting sick isn't remarkably hard for people that exhibit at cons. It's even got a name. The Con crud.

Having seen their more exuberant fans in action though I can see how they'd get the idea it'd be appreciated. I guess after the first time they didn't learn a lesson.

As a webcomic artist, let me apologize. Too many webcomic artists make promises they can't keep. I personally have kept mine.

And seriously, the art-related work for Teahouse is between two people, that's easymode as is.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-19 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
If they're faking sickness to avoid updating, they're assholes. If it's real flu, and you're saying "You get sick a lot so why not just work harder?", you're the asshole.
