the YGO fandom would be better off if they used these tbh

Same with Pokemon. Portmanteau names I can usually figure out, but I have no idea what most of the x!shipping names have to do with anything.

I thought of YGO first thing when I saw this secret. If you need to consult a master list of like, a 1000 names, just to figure out who the hell the ship name refers to, you're doing it wrong. Name smooshing would be much welcome there.

(especially considering that using the concatenated morae is a convention in Japanese-based fandoms to begin with.)

(Also: additional meaning can be conveyed by syllable order. JouKai is a LOT different than KaiJou :p)

Now I'm wondering if that's an anime fandom thing, cause mine does it too. It took me forever to figure out what some of the names meant.
