Start writing anon. When you get that kind of idea that just eats your brain, you have to write it until it gets out. You can always go back and edit it later to make it better, but get it out. 15-30 k is a lot more doable than you think. Just keep at it, a chunk at a time. Let yourself fall into the writing groove and let that inspiration carry you on.

Chances are the way you write it will be far closer to what you need than what anyone else would have done. It's like scratching an itch. You know just the spot.
