As for the actual secret, I agree with what I presume is your other secret. Don't think it's going to happen. However, it wouldn't be the first time TPTB (or the network) changed their minds, so I'm sure it's possible, but not probable imo.

Edit: Upon closer inspection, the font isn't the same. Still think the two are similar though.

Personally, I wouldn't even mind if they did get together. What I really don't want is forced UST between them. If something more than friendship developed organically between the two of them, I wouldn't mind it, but yeah...that said, I do hope it stays platonic because there are so few awesome male/female BFFs on TV.

This! I don't mind them getting together but by making them friends first the writers have to develop their characters first instead of having the characters exists solely as romantic interests (Mal and Inara comes to mind, their UST is quite forced).

I'll agree with this. I'm liking what I'm seeing so far with their friendship/companionship and if a romantic angle developed naturally and worked then I would be all for it, and if they don't? Then I shall have an awesome m/f BFF relationship and that too shall be awesome.

While we're here, what are people's thoughts on episode 2? Especially those who were in love with the pilot (I wasn't 'in love' but I thought it was pretty cool).

I gotta say I wasn't as impressed as I was first time round but that is sort of expected with most shows.

But in regards to Sherlock and Joan, it does feel like they're trying to go down the "anomosity - it must be love!" route, already bringing in the perfect ex who isn't going to be able to hold a candle to the other man in her life at some point (the rich Micky Smith, if you will).

Can't say I'm a fan of that. It makes me miss the BFF-ness of most Holmes and Watson pairings. I get that it's early days but it's what I usually love in other adaptations that the two just 'click' and are meant to be rather than being forced into an uncomfortable situation together.

I didn't really buy it either, but after reading what they actually said about their reasons for keeping it platonic I'm convinced they probably won't change their minds.

I wouldn't object to them getting together. I stopped comparing this show to BBC Sherlock and all the other iterations about midway through the first episode, and I'm just enjoying it on it's own merits at the moment.

I think Joan and Sherlock have chemistry together -- actually I can see Sherlock being much more eager to court Joan than she him. I see her finding a conflict with the whole client relationship. She does, after all, work for his dad. If she ever goes off the dad's paycheck and Sherlock stops being a job and starts being a friend, then I can definitely imagine it. I can't see Sherlock himself giving a fuck about professional/personal conflicts, so he might get a bit impatient and annoyed at the delay.

I haven't seen this show. Has it even aired or at people still leaking it?

Anyway I think in media the idea of men and women just staying friends is hard. Not that men and women CAN'T just be friends but people tend to get angry or just indifferent about new characters. If the piece of media goes on for a long time it makes sense that they would be in sexual relationships with SOMEONE. But if they wait too long before introducing a love interest people seem to backlash at the intrusion on the main characters. So then they seem stuck as friends without the ability to be in other relationships. The writers eventually think 'well this is what people want' and stick them together officially... and then people lose interest.

That being said I do hope they try with this show. It would be such a shitstorm if they got together.
