Right, because "Ice and Fire" isn't an incredibly vague term that can apply to more than one pairing over the course of the series (Rhaegar/Lyanna, Jon/Dany, The Others/Melisandre, The Wall/The Dragons) that the ice/fire symbolism with Sansa and Sandor must be COMPLETELY unintentional on the part of GRRM.

No, Sandor and Sansa aren't THE "Song of Ice and Fire" but clearly there are various characters and plot points that represent "ice and fire" throughout the series.

To assume that it's IMPOSSIBLE that GRRM didn't intend such a metaphor between significant relationship involving a character associated with fire and a character associated with ice/coldness is incredibly naive.

It pretty much IS canon in the sense that Snape/Lily is canon. Even GRRM hasn't denied that there's something there. The man even personally requested that Sandor/Sansa be featured in the 2012 calendar.

But even the most diehard Sansan shipper acknowledges that the idea of a happy ending happening between them is close to nil.
