Creepy stories about my home
Anybody want to hear some stories about the house I grew up in? I've got plenty of anecdotes, and hopefully I'll be able to relate the weirdness in an appreciable way.
Anybody interested?

The people
______
Okay, so my sister is kind of... sensitive? It's something my entire family accepts, since she seems to get targeted the most with the sorts of weird things that happen on our property. I have some theories about why, but even typing them makes me feel weird.
Anyway, my sister tends to have I guess what are walking visions when she's in the barn. She's not got any kind of mental illness, she just sees people that she swears are there.
The way our barn is set up, is that in the main section is a central platform running the length of the barn, and then there's a gutter separating the main platform from the cow stalls. One night, my sister was on the main platform, behind the cows doing her own thing. She looked up, and thought she saw me in front of the cows, scowling at her.
This isn't unusual, I'm kind of a grouchy person, but the way that "I" was looking at her was kind of too hostile. Apparently, this me didn't say anything or do anything aside for just glower. My sister kind of brushed it off, thinking I was being a more testy me.
Actually, I was up in the milkhouse, talking to my parents when this happened to her, which is all the way on the other end of the barn. Probably a couple hundred feet.
My sister comes up into the milkhouse, and says, "Oh," when she sees me. "You sure moved fast." We all three give her a look.
"I was up here for the past five minutes," I tell my sister.
She falters a bit, a small smile on her face because she thinks I'm kidding her. "Huh-unh," she denies. "I just saw you down there. You were scowling at me."
At this point, I was feeling uneasy. I don't like being told I have something that looks like me appearing to my sister. "Okay, so maybe I was astral projecting to make your ass hurry up," I respond.
She's frowning now, more thoughtful than scared. "No! I swear I saw you."
"She was up here the whole time," my mom chimes in.
My sister frowns a little more. "No, you were there. You looked really angry."
Later, she would tell me that she didn't look exactly like me, just enough so that at a glance my sister mistook whoever she saw for me. The girl she saw had a thinner face, looked meaner, and had longer, blonde hair.
The other person she saw was of a young man, and this one kind of freaked me out. One afternoon, we were up in the calf barn, moving things around and talking when she mentioned having seen a guy up there before, but was acting weird.
I gave her one of my patented squinty looks, and asked, "What guy." She quickly protested she was telling the truth.
"I saw a guy up here," she explained. "He was cringing up against the wall and sort of smiling at me. He looked like he was nervous to see me, and was afraid I might hurt him. He was young and had blonde hair. He looked like the brother of that woman I see sometimes." So I asked what she did.
"I told him to stay where he was, and did the chores upstairs. He did, and when I went to leave, he was already gone."
Nobody else had ever seen anybody like that on the farm before, or the woman she sometimes sees.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-12 02:24 am (UTC)(link)The apparition
I'll start with how I saw him. One morning, I was walking up the main platform from behind the cows. At the beginning of the platform, if you hang a right, there's an old silo room with a door going straight to the outside. This morning was a clear, sunny spring thaw day, so the door was open to let sunshine and fresh air in.
I was just walking on, minding my own business, when I looked toward the silo room. I caught a flash of a dark silhouette of a man's hatted head and shoulders ducking down and away from me, very quickly.
This immediately got my attention. It didn't go against my inclination so strongly that I was scared, but I was sorting doing a hard wut. So I dropped what I was doing and walked to the room, thinking it may have been my dad, because it had similar clothes and a close outline to him. I crested the door to see...
Nobody. I was starting to get a little nervous. I popped outside, checked around the edge of the silo.
Nobody.
I came back inside, feeling a little freaked out. My Dad was just coming down from the milkhouse. I grabbed him and asked, "Did you just go around through the silo room?"
He looked at me, no expression on his face. No answer.
"Did you?" My voice was getting a little pushed, since this was weird for him.
"No," he said. "Why?"
"I thought I just saw you go around out the silo room. You ducked and turned away from me, so I went to go see."
My Dad just grinned, and looked up and away from me to find my Mom in the barn, then hollered, "Anon just saw the barn ghost!"
---
The second time this guy was sighted was when my sister came tearing into the barn. She was booking it pretty fast, and scrambled up to my dad. "There's a guy in the pasture!" was her greeting.
My Dad looked at her. "Where?"
"Just right across the street, he just rounded the lilac trees!"
Dad dropped what he was doing and headed out the door. My Mom, who was sitting on one of the chemical barrels, frowned at my sister. "What did he look like?"
"I dunno really, I only saw him from the back. He was dressed in a white t-shirt and jeans. I thought he may have been one of Charlie's guys, so I called to him and told him that Dad was in the milkhouse. He never turned around."
My Dad came back in, but didn't say a word. He picked up what he had been doing and resumed. My Mom asked him if anyone was out there. He shrugged.
Silence.
"I believe you," my dad said. "But I just..." and shrugged again. The matter was dropped.
Another sighting from my sister. She was walking up the main platform when she saw a guy's outline dart very quickly from standing next to the cow at the end of the line. Quickly enough for her to be alarmed, and she dropped what she was doing, and pursued him.
As she rounded to the place where he was, he was ducking around another corner, to the old part of the barn. She followed him again, and he had vanished.
M Dad is a really practical guy. He's down to earth, and isn't into ghosts and stuff. But he knows what he's seen, and that all there is to it.
One time my Dad was moving around small square bales of hay. These things are kind of assholes, because when they get moved around, they tend to change shape and leave gaps in between each other. At the moment, Dad was walking on top of the pile of square bales, when he slipped, and his leg went straight down a long hole in between a few dozen rows.
As he fell, he could have sworn he felt something almost protective around him, before he landed. It was kind of scary, because he fell straight to the hip. He explained later, it was one of those moments where he should have had a broken leg, but didn't. He gives credit to whatever was with him then.
I have a feeling it's the guy we see around the barn. As my mom says, he likes to check in on his old farm. That's what old farmers do: they keep track of their place.
Final sort of weird apparition
The upper part of my house has a completely different feel from the lower part. It's palpably heavy, and your hair tends to stand up on end if you stay up there too long. When my other sister was younger and lived in the house, she had a weird experience.
She was getting ready for bed up in her room with the door open, when she heard footsteps in the attic. Now, the attic is crammed full of shit from two generations ago, the boards are rotting out, and there are raccoons and bats living in there. No one ever really goes into the attic, my parents were downstairs, and my brother wasn't home.
There was no fucking way anybody was in the attic.
But she could see someone block the light thrown from the halogen porch light, from inside the attic. Just sort of slid in front of the crack between the door and the jamb and stayed there.
She slammed her bedroom door shut.

these are from my mother. my mom is a religious person but also very practical and i did not get my evil sense of humor from her, so i have reason to believe that these are both true.
first happened when she was an undergrad. she got asked out by this guy but turned him down. he was apparently healthy, but a few days later he died from (i think) a brain aneurysm. since it was seemingly out of nowhere, my mom was understandably shocked about the situation and couldn't find it in her to go to his funeral with some of the other students at her college. so basically, she was sitting in the college auditorium alone when this dude (WHO WAS DEAD) showed up and started talking to her. she said it felt surreal and a bit like an out-of-body experience but swears she was awake the entire time it happened. basically he just told her that he was going to be fine and no hard feelings about the date thing. someone opened the door to the auditorium while they were talking, and when she looked back he had vanished.
she had another experience after her dad (my grandpa) died. she was talking to my grandma on the phone earlier in the day and found out that grandma was having some difficulty finding one of the papers she needed for his will or something like that. she'd looked all over the house and couldn't find it anywhere. a few nights later, my mom sees grandpa in her dream and he calls her by her nickname and (again) reassures her that it's going to be alright. before she wakes up, she asks grandpa about the paper grandma's looking for. he tells her not to worry, he'll "take care of it."
next morning, grandma calls my mom and tells her that she found the paper on TOP of a stack she'd been looking at the day before. this was before she had any problems with her memory, so basically it appeared out of fuckall nowhere, prompting my mom to tell me what had happened.

Re: Creepy stories about my home
i was at this birthday party with some friends when i was around, eh, 13 or so. we were taking pictures with a digital camera in her basement. we took one in front of their foozball (yeah i cant be assed to spell that right) table, and when we reviewed it we saw a picture of us standing there in front of the table and A BIG BLACK SMOKEY THING in the picture that HEY WASN'T REALLY THERE. it wasn't like a blob, it was more like a snakey black thing. it couldn't have been something on the lens because it went BEHIND some of our heads in the photo and in front of others. the girl who had the camera deleted it because everyone was flipping out. i wish she'd kept it because HELLO AWESOME DEMON GHOST THING PICTURE.
the other one happened at my other friend's house. we were playing video games in the basement, but i went upstairs to use the bathroom. i started walking down the hallway, and as i turned around i saw a big black shadowy guy. i say "guy" because of his general build, but he didn't have any visible physical characteristics, it was more like the outline of his body. then i shrugged and peed. went back downstairs, told friend. the friend told me that their house actually is haunted, but it's only one ghost and he doesn't really do anything aside from randomly turning on electrical appliances and opening cabinets. and, apparently, waiting for people to pee? i dunno, i thought it was more cool than scary.
Re: Creepy stories about my home
Also, I have some stories experienced by my mother and by my relatives if you're interested.

======================================
(Pardon my English. It's not my first language)
This first one involves my uncle, whom for the purposes of this story shall be nameless. When I was really young, he went to visit a friend down south in Malacca and while there, he decided to visit a local mountain, Mount Opir. Now this mountain has a reputation for weird stuff happening. like, REALLY weird stuff. There's actually been several deaths there due to trees literally falling on loggers, tourists and hikers. And those were the ones that were reported in the news...
My uncle walked around the lower forests and visited the tourism office (now closed) and everything seemed fine. It was when he tried to came back that the weird stuff started happening. He said that, for some reason the forest path disappeared completely, forcing him to stumble under the trees for some time using the sun to navigate through the forest.
After about half an hour, the trees suddenly gave way to some sort of bluff where he can see the rest of the forest until the horizon, and it was then he knew that something was wrong. The area around the mountain has about a few houses and roads, but he saw nothing; just trees until the horizon.
My uncle prayed to God and turned back into the forest, hoping that he would get out by nightfall. After about several minutes of walking, he found the forest path again and after about half an hour he was back in the parking lot. To this day he says that there is "something" living on that mountain and that it is better to admire it from a distance.
The second one involves my relatives on my mother's side. They live deep in the countryside surrounded my rubber and palm oil plantations. One night, when they were all sleeping, they heard a 'tik-tang-tong' noise coming from the roof. Since their house was far from the nearest police station, no one wanted to come out and check what was going on.
It was only in the morning that they found out what was causing the noise: stones. Apparently they found small stones on the roof and assumed some prankster or a group of monkeys threw them up there during the night. Of course, some were not convinced (who ever heard of noiseless monkeys?) so one of the sons (or was it the father) decided to stay up for for the next night to catch anything that moves.
When the second night came and everyone was asleep, the one on watch stayed up outside the house waiting for the stones to fall again. And they did. Everyone inside the house heard it. The son/father? immediately began running here and there to catch the intruders. The thing is, while he was running, the stones still kept falling, and when he realized that he was the only one outside the house, the stones still kept falling.
It spooked everyone, and they immediately began praying, hoping that whatever was causing this would leave their home. The incident continued for a few more nights before stopping for good. Everyone wondered about it for weeks afterward: If there was no one outside the house, then who/what was throwing the stones onto their roof?
They talked about this to my family a few years back during the Hari Raya Holidays, and it was there that I picked up the story.
====================================
And that's it for now!

(Anonymous) 2012-10-12 02:23 am (UTC)(link)The raining rocks could have been a prank. What goes up, must come down. The people throwing rocks might have been really far away from you. But then, if they were so far away, the rocks should have did some damage onto the roofs.
Or it could have been a really weird (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sy_XCrNxNeg) weather phenomenon. I dunno LOL ¯\(°_o)/¯

(Anonymous) 2012-10-12 01:43 am (UTC)(link)A few years ago, he went on a trip with his rugby mates, and one night they wanted to give the ouija board a try. Apparently, they managed to get in contact with one of the boys' father, who had died a few months prior, but before they could ask anything, absolutely all the lights went out, and my brother's phone didn't even have reception. Needless to say, they stopped and went to bed. I don't think they had an easy sleep though, and the lights didn't return until morning.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-12 01:55 am (UTC)(link)Oh, I know, but I'm sure they were all crapping their pants when it happened.
Not really creepy but weird?
(Anonymous) 2012-10-12 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)There was a woman in her neighborhood who had a son in poor health. There was a rumor that eating a cat's umbilical cord(?)* would restore health. So this woman adopted a female stray cat and every time she fed her, she would say "Eat well, but when you give birth, you have to give me the umbilical cord* for my son." Eventually, the cat got pregnant and disappeared. Then one day, she returned to the woman with the umbilical cord* in her mouth and tears streaming down her eyes. The cat gave the woman the umbilical cord* and left. The woman never saw the cat again but prepared the umbilical cord* for her son. Her son recovered full health shortly after.
It sounds like some sort of urban legend but my grandma swears it really happened. She saw the woman feeding the cat several times, heard that she got the umbilical cord* from the cat, and saw the son around the neighborhood soon after.
*I'm not sure if that's what it really is. According to my grandma, it is something the mother cat has to eat after giving birth or she can't ever have kittens again. Might not be scientifically true but... *shrugs*
