I'm really not sure how I feel about in honestly. On one hand I want a canon slash ship and I really want them to acknowledge fluid sexuality on a TV show. On the other hand I don't want the writers to pander to the fans. I HATE it when writers pander to the fanbase just to make more money and get more viewers, or to make more publicity. I also worry it will set a bad precedent of vocal, rabid fans bullying the creators into giving them what they want.

On the THIRD hand (I'm an alien), I think that if they did it well and kept the characters in character, it could be a very good look at a dysfunctional relationship, because Derek is aggressive and violent, while Stiles is clever and manipulative (sometimes vidictively so).

So part of me is still saying HELL YES, while another part of me is saying FUCK NO.

SA, *it, not in.

That's pretty much how I feel about it too, especially in regards to the pandering, I hate when a show runner deviates from their original plan to pander to fans and we end with a half baked mess of a story line. Ryan Murphy, I'm looking at you.
Personally I think Sterek is never happening in the show, not because Jeff Davis is evil and doesn't care about the fans, it's just that I feel he has no idea how to even approach the possibility of Sterek as canon, and if that indeed is the case, part of me thinks it would be better if he didn't even try. One thing I'll say though, he could easily make either one or both of characters not straight, you could have Stiles as bisexual without changing practically anything in the way he is written, and something like Derek repressing his sexuality after the whole Kate ordeal and then rediscovering it could be a very interesting element in his character development.

What did Ryan Murphy do? (I watch the show, but I'm not in the fandom. I don't read interviews with him either, so I don't know what he gave in on.)

Sam was supposed to be Kurt's boyfriend.

They set it up in the storylines in early season two (parallels to Finchel etc.) and Chord even said later on that he had auditioned for the role of boyfriend, but then the Darren stans happened and... yeah.

Thank you. I had no idea about the switch, it would've been interesting.

And this is actually a myth. We will never know what actually happened. Another widespred saying is that Ryan saw awesome chemistry between Chord (Sam) and Dianna (Quinn) and threw the plan out of the window. ANOTHER story is that while Ryan may have planned a jock named Sam being Kurts boyfriend first, but changed his plans before Chord/Sam was even cast.
NO ONE knows what happened.

the plot was indicating sam/kurt and its parallels to finchel pretty heavily in the early episodes which were already written by that point. (and people who auditioned to the role of sam said that they had specifically been asked if they would be okay with the boyfriend role. too lazy to start digging links now but they should be around)

I'm voting for fuck no as well, because as much as I might like the ship, I don't want to see it on screen. That would be the worst kind of pandering to the fans and the show tends to get sidetracked enough as it is. I'd rather see them handle properly the current plots instead of dropping them in favor of something completely out of the left field.

+1.

I totally would like to see Stiles' bisexuality explored - but that and Sterek are two different things in my mind. Whereas most Sterek fans only care about Stiles' bisexuality and how it means ~Sterek will happen~.

Amen to not wanting to have the writers just pander to fans. That is the fastest way to ruin good character dynamics and muck up your plot.

Another factor that a lot of people don't seem to be considering is the fact that Stiles is 16 and Derek is, as far as we know, 23-ish (and there have been some illusions to him maybe being older...? I enjoy your show, Jeff Davis, but your timelines give me a god damn headache). Judging by what I've seen, most of the people who want to see them on screen want to see them portrayed in a positive fashion and... honestly, that's a bit sketchy given the age gap. Especially since legal age of consent in California is 18. Add to this the fact that Derek was essentially taken of advantage of and sexually abused by Kate when he was younger and all that history and... I just really don't see it happening the way the majority of people seem to want it to and still making sense.

The jail-bait thing is kinda one of the reasons I ship it.
