Oh wow, gotta love all the white saviors who need to show us poor, dumb colored folks how to act proper and civilized. We don't even know how to raise our own kids! Maybe they should make residential schooling for Asian children?

1) White people can't experience racism.

2) Even if a non-white culture is doing something you feel is wrong, it is not your place to get involved. That attitude leads to colonialism. Leave it alone and let the actual people who it is effecting solve the 'problem'. Asians don't need white people telling us how to live and run our lives okay.

Oh, and if you don't think what you're doing is wrong, you might want to look at what white folks had to say about Native Americans- it's strikingly similar to this thread.

Have you been following this thread at all? "Beating children is wrong" = "WHITE POWER" when certain people think "all corporal punishment" = "beating children." These certain people also think "all corporal punishment" = "how barbaric, we OUTLAWED this _____ years ago" or "OH NOEZ YOU'RE CAUSING YOUR CHILDREN PAIN!!!1!" and "you're doing it wrong! that's not how parenting works!"

That's a cute strawman argument you got there sweetie. I love how you assume everyone who is against it in that thread is ~white~. Because clearly only 'white people' can object to certain cultural norms. It was totally all ~white people~ that put a ban on female genital mutilation in Africa. It was also all ~white people~ who are trying to raise the age of consent in Japan to over the age of fourteen.

if you want to argue that corporal punishment is an acceptable form of punishment and useful for bringing up children, make that argument. don't just say "lol it's our ~~~culture~~~ whatever we do is fine if it's our ~~~culture~~~". that's a bullshit argument.

i'm not saying Western morals are always right: i'm completely open, if you want to make an argument for it, to saying that corporal punishment is right and the West is wrong on this one. i certainly don't think that using corporal punishment makes non-Western cultures "less civilized", because that's bullshit. but i do think that there is a right and a wrong.

Thoughtful and sensible advice from can come from anyone, even white people. But it's best not to assume what they stand on issues based on the colour of their skin before you can even talk to them.

regarding issue number one, white people can experience racism in nations where they are institutionally the minority. places like japan and china are rather racist towards whites.
