I can read original fiction in first person perspective, but that's it.

With fics it weirds me out and I normally end up thinking, "No, that's not who they are. That doesn't work. That doesn't fit."

Characterization is easier to do in fics in the third person because you're not constantly in the character's head.

This comment perfectly describes my feelings towards first person perspective fics. I try to sit through them but I always end up thinking 'no, darn it! That is not how they'd think. It's all wrong!'

*sigh* Also, such fics mostly consist of lines like 'I woke up early today, put my clothes on, brushed my hair, went down for breakfast' etc etc

HOLY UNENDING AND BORING EVENTS BATMAN!

I'm sure not ALL 1st POV fics do this...but about 90% fail to avoid it. xDD

Yeah, I find in a lot of first person, and in some third, people do not know how to time skip.

At all.

It's... not fun to read.

Same. And I find first-person fics easier to read when the source material is in first person as well, and the fic is written from the perspective of the same character. That way you've already got a good idea of what the inner world of the character is like from canon and it's easier to stay IC in fanfiction. But yeah, otherwise I'm pretty wary of first person in fic.

I haven't read any fic for any canons that are in first person but I suspect I would feel the same as you.
