Re: I need some comfort...
And I sort of understand what you're going through, though for me my dog dying won't come as a surprise- I sort of have the opposite case. My 11 years and 6 month dog (half lab, half retriever), well she's really sick now, it looks like we're just making her comfortable at the moment until the end. Renal failure and that- while younger dogs can sometimes work out with a dietry change or so I hear, she's just... so much older and we've had to feed her with liquid stuff and sometimes carry her outside and inside to help her. So it's just making her confortable and giving her love until the end right now. :(
But even though it hurts to see her this way, because in a way she'll always be my puppy, at least I'll get to say goodbye, even if going to work is a worry even though someone is in the house always right now. But in the end I'm sure your dog felt loved no matter what and she didn't feel any pain. She sounds just from your short description that she was really happy- and in the end that's all we can do for our pets.
