I know. Half the time, I'm like, why are you complaining about your tiny fandom with few participants/viewers and then not tell us what the show/book/movie/comic/etc is? It's counterproductive.

Yup, I agree, though some people just forget. I know I've submitted secrets before then face-palmed because I forgot to include the fandom.

And maybe some people think their fandom is more recognizable than it actually is? IDK, but it can never hurt to include it.

My guess is that since case puts up the fandom-labeled secrets all together mid-week, people not naming the fandom are just hoping to see their secret put up sooner.

That is a really good question, I'm not good with faces so I tend to have problems recognizing fandoms even if I am in them, and my life gets a lot easier if people just marked their fandoms.

I've wondered this for years and the only thing I can think of, besides forgetting, is that they want people to wonder.

--They want to see if anyone will figure it out, or
--They forgot.

...Oh, god, I'm suddenly so tempted to create a secret for a fandom that doesn't exist. Someone stop me!

I dunno, either, but i know it's really, really annoying. Not only do i not know a lot of the fandoms, but when i'm reading comments, i have to continuously go back and look at the image/open the secret in a new tab so i know what's what. So much easier if it's labeled, then i can just look at the label and go 'oh, yeah, that, don't care about that/oh, wanted to say something about that!'

Most of the time I can recognize the fandom just fine, so I figure those don't need them, and laziness means they don't get labeled. Which works, so whatever. It does bug me when people submit secrets about obscure fandoms to the effect of "I wish there was a fandom for this." BUT WHAT IS IT??? NOBODY KNOWS

Maybe I'm wrong, but it strikes me that a year or so back half the secrets were labelled.

Hit a point that wasn't the case, and now people avoid doing it because they want their secrets to have a chance at being day one.

Not even a year, I remember a few months ago (before the move, maybe?) every other post was full of labelled secrets. Now it's much rarer.

I try and label mine if it's even remotely obscure. Actually I label them even if I think it's mainstream. I really dislike having people go 'what fandom is this' in the comments and when I see that and it hasn't been IDed yet and I know it I always answer.

I have no idea why people don't do it. Seems like simple courtesy to me.
