BioShock Infinite
I LOVED the other BioShock games and this one looks like it's going to be awesome, although the gameplay (other than the rail segments, which look exciting) in this trailer seems a bit typical imo. (Then again, I would've preferred they showcased more powers than gun-play, though I do love me some gun-play and I'm sure there will be plenty of powers in-game.)
If you're following the game, do you think the series is moving away from trying to be scary, or do you think that will still be involved, but maybe less so?
NGL, I'm hoping Infinite includes something akin to Fort Frolic (not in terms of content, but in horror factor), but I'm not entirely sure what to expect at this point.
Oh, and here are the previous trailers/game-play footage.

Re: BioShock Infinite
ANYWAY, blatant fangirling aside, I too am curious to see what kind of horror aspects will be in this game. I don't really have anything worthy of contribution to the discussion, haha, except to say that wow the boys of silence and the handymen already freak me out just from the trailers!
on another note, my favorite part of this new footage is all the other shots of Columbia we get to see. I absolutely loved Rapture from a worldbuilding and aesthetic standpoint and I also would've loved the chance to see and explore more of it than what we did, and the thought that we might get that chance with Columbia -- by virtue of it being an open-air environment instead of strictly enclosed buildings and tunnels, if nothing else -- really excites me more than just about anything else with this game.
Re: BioShock Infinite
ugh ugh I need this game come on february hurry up and get here already
I hear you! The only reason I'm glad that the game got pushed back is because so many other games were scheduled to be released at the end of this year. And now most of them have been pushed back to early next year... :/ Thanks, guys. Oh so helpful as I don't have unlimited money.
I can't recall anything too scary from the trailers, which is why I was a little worried, but...that will probably change in the game. After all, a huge part of BioShock's horror factor comes from the setting and the atmosphere, and I have faith they'll do a good job with both of those.

Me too! Not that I don't enjoy shooting people in the face with shotguns, but my most fond memories of BioShock games have nothing to do with the game-play itself and more to do with the story and how fascinating the world is and the characters in it are. So looking forward to that.
Super glad to get a response to this and know that someone else is excited about it too! EEEEEE. Also, your icon is gorgeous. Is it snaggable?Re: BioShock Infinite

Re: BioShock Infinite
and tbh I think the scariest part of it all is going to be the ever-present tension that some part of the city is just going to fall apart and drop right out of the sky. how's that for atmospheric horror...!
...Welp, now I want to piss my pants. *is horribly afraid of heights*
Sometimes in video games it doesn't bother me, and I feel like the rail system will probably be good enough that I won't have to worry about falling to my death constantly, but...uh, agreed.
(Yay! Will do, thanks. :D)

Ooo, it does look pretty badass... NO! I refuse to get hyped for this game!
Re: BioShock Infinite
And BioShock 2 was only released in 2010! That's not so long ago. But yea, the game was supposed to have already come out by now. Still...maybe with the delays the game will be more polished than it would've been otherwise? HAVE FAITH!

BioShock 2 is a good game too imo and if you have the chance to play it at some point, I'd recommend it. It isn't as strong as the first game, but it is a solid experience.
However, you don't have to play either to get into Infinite, so either way I'm sure you'll be able to enjoy it!

Yea, I do. Columbia is insanely gorgeous but the brightness is such a departure from Rapture where everything was dark and dreary constantly. I do have trust in the team, but so far what we've seen of Infinite makes me think they aren't going to much effort to make it scary. So I hope I'm wrong about that and they're holding things back right now in an attempt to surprise us.
I'm not even a huge horror fan tbh, but I LOVED that aspect of BioShock and those parts of the game made it instantly more memorable for me.
Re: BioShock Infinite
(Anonymous) 2012-10-22 02:02 pm (UTC)(link)I am so excite. ;----; I went to the website earlier and looked at the Collector's Edition post but forgot to watch the new trailer. And oh my GOOOOOOD it looks amazing. It is about 80% things we haven't seen before, which really pleases me, because before this I was starting to think they were showing too much. With the enemy videos and whatnot. But nope. This trailer raises close to a million questions.
I'd gush about the questions, but idk if anyone is here anymore. :B Does anyone know of any BioShock comms?
Re: BioShock Infinite
Okay not always, but I have comment notifications so I might as well be.It really is a nice trailer, isn't it? I like it a bit more each time I see it. I can't wait to run around Columbia looking for goodies!
Are you considering the Collector's Edition, or the Songbird Edition? I'd probably buy the Songbird Edition if I wasn't already getting the Limited Edition of Assassin's Creed 3, but...that's a lot of money.

YOU SHOULD! ...You don't have to though, of course. I'm just pleased so many BioShock fans are in f!s. :p
As for comms, there's http://cityofrapture.livejournal.com/
(Sadly it isn't very active, but...maybe around release time it'll have some new traffic?)
