IDK, I think the Doctor and the Master share a hell of a lot more than a planet of origin, particularly in Three and Ten era where the Master is written as a nasty mirror image of the Doctor. But in the midst of all the shipping and woobiefication, fandom tends to lose sight of the fact that the Master is an evil little shit. Whatever twisted affection he may have for the Doctor deep down, he has no desire to express it except in the backhanded form of nonconsensual bondage and plots to conquer or destroy everything the Doctor loves.

the Doctor's rather contrary penchant for giving the people who hate him an infinite number of second chances. (Whereas if you actually like the Doctor, one strike and you are out!)

Argh, ain't that the truth.
