Having looked at the site, they literally have an advice article titled 'Is it easier to get laid in poor countries?'.

Hahaha jesus christ.

I mean the use of entitled and - well the rest of your post instantly set me off to thinking you were a cunt, but that just seals the deal on being a pathetic human being as well.

You had to go straight for c*nt? You couldn't have said asshole or douche or jerkwad? You had to go straight for the female gendered slur?

Yeah, wondering why someone went straight for a female slur in a thread were someone implied you can fuck the lesbian out of someone is so a just for drama thing.

You mean uniquely American terms? I suppose I could have used bastard or wanker, except they'd lack the specific vitriol I was going for.

Not particularly interested in a debate about linguistics and regional meanings of language, so I'm sorry you're offended, and I won't use it again in this thread.

p.s. I'm genuinely interested why you chose to repeat the slur with a single star on one of the letters. What purpose do you actually think this serves? Like I don't think anyone here is mistaken as to what word you're using there. And the harm isn't I don't think in it's literal physical construct as a word, but in the meaning imbued. Either use it or don't.

But you didn't have to go for something specifically targeted towards women. Jfc.

Wasn't the intent.

Because, shockingly, it isn't where I'm from.

Interesting! Where are you from?

UK.

(though the same is true for a number of ex-colonies, see also Australia)

You're right, that is shocking!

That explains everything. Everything.

Here' in Britain 'cunt' is usually a gender-neutral insult. I'd say neutral leaning towards masculine.

A lot of people here are still very offended by it but it is used differently then in the US.

Re: James Bond and Entitlement

(Anonymous) 2012-10-23 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, wiki does say something to that effect. I can buy that, but I also think you'd have to live under a rock to never have come across the other meaning, and not think that saying it wouldn't cause trouble. And I was genuinely curious as to where i_o is from since I've never seen them mention it although I knew they weren't from the US.

Cunt (play /ˈkʌnt/) is a word that primarily describes the female genitalia, particularly the vulva, and is widely considered to be vulgar.[

Pull the other one, ass, it has bells on it.

Re: James Bond and Entitlement

[personal profile] ill_omened 2012-10-23 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
"Cunt is also used as a derogatory epithet referring to people of either sex. This usage is relatively recent, dating from the late nineteenth century.[3] Reflecting different national usages, cunt is described as "an unpleasant or stupid person" in the Compact Oxford English Dictionary, whereas Merriam-Webster has a usage of the term as "usually disparaging and obscene: woman",[4] noting that it is used in the U.S. as "an offensive way to refer to a woman";[5] the Macquarie Dictionary of Australian English states that it is "a despicable man", however when used with a positive qualifier (good, funny, clever, etc.) in Britain, New Zealand and Australia, it can convey a positive sense of the object or person referred to.[6]

...

This is particularly true in America, where the word is solely used referring to women or sometimes even a rather feminine man, while in the UK and Ireland, the word is an insult which can be used for anyone, much akin to calling someone a bastard or wanker."

You are a fucking bastard. A wanker. A douche bag. A horrible terrible person. Everything I see from you is terrible. Go the fuck away and be a horrible representation of the gender somewhere else.

LOOK! I insulted you without using an gendered slur words!

How is douchebag not gendered?

And all those others words have clear problematic roots if we're going down that path.

I mean surely you're aware of the etymological background of say bastard right?

I always thought "wank/wanker" had a specifically male connotation to it.

Yeah, so did I. I don't think I've ever called a woman a "wanker" unless I meant "person involved in some fandom wank."

Re: James Bond and Entitlement

Because bag that douche came in doesn't have a gender?

I'm kind of astonished at how much I dislike you sometimes. Do you ever get tired of beating all these dead horses?

No.

Do you ever tire of sniping anonymously from the sidelines rather then addressing my actual points?

Re: James Bond and Entitlement

(Anonymous) 2012-10-23 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, it's my first time sniping at you! Don't go pointing fingers--there's more than one anon in this thread.

And I don't care about your points, I just get really sick of reading your opinions all the time. You're a prickly son of a bitch, with all the charm and warmth of a block of ice.
