HA.

I have no problem with HAES. What I have a problem with is when people who claim to support HAES viciously attack anyone who mentions that they want to lose some weight. I remember a thread on this very comm where an anon mentioned that their father was dying from a health issue that was exacerbated by his obesity, and someone else (it probably doesn't take a rocket scientist to guess who) absolutely tore into them, saying that they were contributing to a culture of hatred against fat women, all because they mentioned that they were worried their father was dying.

Yeah. I totally agree with you. And you're right, there's some very politically incorrect conclusions that can be drawn from that. :P

I'd be totally against that too, though I've not seen it. (NOT SAYING it doesn't happen, though.) Personally back when I was all feministy I knew several fat women who claimed to be into HAES who eventually decided to try to lose weight. I don't know if they felt they had to abandon HAES to do that, but I don't remember anyone publicly turning on them for it. (I did see lots of turning on people for other things, though, which is why I now feel about organized feminism the same way I feel about organized religion.)
