I think it's good in the sense that not everyone can achieve the sub-20 BMI of a runway model, and it's time to both accept that and the fact that heavier women (and men) can also be attractive. Research has shown that people who are (mildly) overweight are much healthier and live longer than people who are underweight.

But when it's used to attack any research that shows that there are adverse health effects to being severely overweight as lies propped up to support the Diet Industry or Big Agro or something, then it's gone off the rails. Yes, there really are sizes, big and small, that are unhealthy. No, all the screaming in the world won't change that fact.

I'm a big ol' feminist, socialist, leftie, but anti-science is the one thing I just won't stand for. The raving, idiotic anti-science movement was the reason I abandoned conservative politics for the left in the first place, but if the left is going to be just as bad, well, fuck it, I'll go moderate.
