Or...maybe they just don't like your pairing? I don't get hating on a pairing to someone who DOES like it, and I def don't think this sort of thing is wank worthy, but...yea. like if you've already got lots of fic and art and discussion and fans, why does it matter if the canon material ~acknowledges~ the relationship or not?

I always laugh at the "they just jealous" line of reasoning. Because we all know you just can't dislike a pairing for other reasons! Gotta be that raging jealousy.

If the pairing is slash, your chances of being canon is practically zero (Another Torchwood could always happen).

If the pairing is het, there are a lot of reason to hate it: having it taking over the plot, having the other characters talking about it and putting it even more in front, see the characters of the pairing changed or retconned, the old tired plot clichés to maintain the 'will they won't they', the pairing becoming the main talk in interviews and spoiler news, not being a fan of romance, not liking the type of relationship in question (from we fight because we're in love to hyper fluffy), not seeing how the pairing could possibly last while the show paint them as star-crossed lovers and more.

Everytime someone uses the "they're just jealous" argument I assume they're equally as petty over whatever it is they're talking about and only say it because they know it riles the other side up.

I mean, they may just not like the pairing dude. Just enjoy your pairing and stop fueling ship wars.

Guessing here, but pretty sure this secret is hinting at "Sterek". Honestly, I wouldn't mind some convoluted plot device, that forced Stiles & Derek to have some random make out session at some point... but that is probably where the entire "Sterek" situation would begin and end in "Teen Wolf" canon. One episode, for teh lolz, and that's all. I can't see the people behind the show letting it go beyond something like that.

Am I the only one who thinks this secret is about Rosemary? It actually is almost canon right now (they both have feelings for each other, and one drunkenly kissed the other- all that's left is basically the official relationship forming stuff) and some people have been pretty horrible about it (mostly people who want Rose in an endgame het ship.)

Rosemary people are generally better at making graphics, though.

Sterek is just kind of meh as a pairing. There's no evidence for it in the show and I can't see Derek ever falling in love with Stiles. Still, it's obnoxious fan brats like you who truly prevented me from ever shipping it.

...I'm just going to quietly feel second hand embarrassment here, since there are a ton of shippers in my main fandom that claim that for their pairing. [Actually most people in my fandom claim that *every* pairing is canon, even though the author ship teases the hell out of everything.]

Wow, conclusion-jumping central. I've never even seen Teen Wolf. And claiming I'm a Zutarian or Harmonian? Real mature!

In this fandom, gay pairings can be canon. In fact, there's more gay pairings canon than straight pairings. There is no reason for people to hate my OTP other than "bawwww they're more popular than my OTP", or that the dynamic makes them uncomfortable. If it's the latter situation, I don't get what they're doing in this fandom in the first place!
