You're not alone OP. Love both of them as individuals (Garrus moreso) and as friends, but pairing them together as lovahs just irks me something awful. I'm sure that for me it's due to my love of Garrus x fem!Shep. Though I wouldn't mind Tali x fem!Shep.

And I'll also admit that I honestly don't know why Tali is so beloved in the fandom.

I agree with all of this. And as for the last comment, I think a lot of the fandom finds her cute in the nerdy way. There's many things I like about her, but in ME3 she generally bothered me (hooking up with Garrus aside).

Yeah, Tali was always kind of 'meh' for me. I helped her because she helped me and because I figured it would give me better results.

I'm the same way. It's not just with those two, there are many instances I can think of where I like two characters separately but shipping them just makes me go NO for some reason

Because you put yourself too much into one of them, and so them together is squicky to you because of one of two reasons:

1. So not your type, no no no.

2. SO YOUR TYPE AND THIS WILL NEVER HAPPEN FUCKKKKK

Considering it's ME (and I love this series, so don't take it as an insult), I think what's more likely is that OP feels possessive over one or both because they are Shepard's (i.e., the player character) love interests, depending on gender. So it feels like they are "cheating" on you.

Actually, I think this is one of the better ways of handling it.

I think what bothered me was that I felt like they only ended up paired up because they could, um, swap fluids. Without incident.

I haven't been in the ME fandom for a while, and when I was I never saw this pairing, but...I don't like them together either. My first reaction to them in-game was: "...Why?"

I'm sure people have their reasons for liking them together but it doesn't do anything for me.

*Shrug* Not my cup of tea but I get why people like it. You don't have to. That's okay. Nobody is going to hunt you down and force you to read/watch Garrus/Tali porn just because you don't like it.

And if they do call the police.

I think it's Garrus reflected in Tali's suit? Maybe? Definitely not the best image to pick.

Also I love Garrus/Tali.

Jesus, I hate Joker/EDI with a fiery passion, and it's not because I ship Joker/fem!Shep (I do), and it's not because I hate EDI (I actually really love her), but because, to me, they really make zero sense. I love them as friends, but this pairing seems to be so forced, at least in my opinion. Their friendly banter is great, but the romance stuff was really badly handed.

And I'm the same with Tali/Garrus. Love them as friends, can't understand the pairing at all.

(But, to be honest, I'm of those few who are really not that big on Garrus/fem!Shep either. I romanced him in my first playthrough and by the time I got to ME3, I was cringing every time there was a romantic scene. Never again. Their friendship, on the other hand, is one of my favourite relationships in those games.)

While I'm largely indifferent to the ship (they felt more like brother-sister to me), Tali/Garrus seemed like a serious case of "pair the spares" (to use TV Tropes vocab, lmao) to me. The fact they also bumped Kal'Reegar off-screen -regardless if you saved him in ME2- in hindsight felt like they were getting him out of the way to facilitate this if neither was romanced, considering Tali/Kal had a bit of a following beforehand.

tbqh, I kinda wished Garrus hooked up with Dr. Michel instead if you didn't romance him. Considering they had some sort of professional connection in ME1 (that was very vaguely hinted at), her letter in ME2, and the fact you can bring her on board the Normandy in ME3 instead of Chakwas if you choose, it seems like a wasted opportunity.

I've always seen Tali/Garrus as brother-sister too.

If I recall correctly, there was a big stint in the bioware forums about wanting the crew members to have romances amongst themselves too so I felt it was "wrong" only because it was obviously a pandering move.

In fact, a lot of Mass Effect 3 felt like either cameo (oh hey, I know you) or pandering to the fans and I think that really impacted the story negatively.
