fic rec?

(Anonymous) 2012-11-14 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
Arranged marriage, playing house, marriage of conveinence, war bride, mail order bride, pretend to be dating. Anything with long drawn out miscommunication and pining while pretending to be in a relationship that ultimately ends in twu luv and hot sex. Prefer the pining to be drawn out and almost agonizing. Slash please. AU more than fine. Original fic too! No mpreg, A/B/O, or Sterek please. I've read all that already. :P
masu_trout: Delicious. ((BRS) Mato *Savior*)

Matching Muff Matrimony. Harry Potter, Pansy/Ginny marriage of convenience. It's quite long and I believe it fills all your requirements.

I love Not Quite a Fairytale (Harry Potter, Ginny/Lucius and Hermione/Sirius). It's a marriage law fic.

This is a really interesting theme for me too. If anyone has any recs along the same vein that are het lay 'em on me? :3

Re: Not slash, but...

My entire family was killed when some pretentious douchebag's overstuffed bookshelf toppled over and crushed them under tomes of musty "ACTUAL NONFANDOM LITERATURE FROM 18SOMETHING." My asthmatic brother, who was only slightly crushed, died from dust and paper particle inhalation.

That is why, to this day, I refuse to read printed books of any sort, especially books from 18SOMETHING. So, thanks for the horrific memory trigger.

[personal profile] chardmonster 2012-11-14 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
Look all I know is that if your family was anywhere near an overstuffed bookshelf then you all REEKED of privilege and the world's better off without them.

Everyone knows that print literature is the final bastion of privileged people and that true progress is found in online multichapter Regency AUs where Thor fucks Teen Loki while both wear tophats and make clever puns. Fanfiction is damn important.*

I merely suggest the OP read actual nineteenth century books (KINDLE VERSIONS) so that the multichapter Regency AUs make better sense.

*Did you know Stonewall was actually one of the earliest Supernatural conventions? Supernatural fans get ANGRY, especially when they don't even have a show to talk about yet and the cops show up and insist that Castiel likes girls while arresting people.

Re: THE ENTIRE NINETEENTH CENTURY

[personal profile] fingalsanteater 2012-11-14 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
That's right. They did reek of privilege. They passed all their privilege on to me with their last dying breaths. (Except, I only got, like, half privilege from my asthmatic brother since his last dying breaths were pretty weak. Too bad too since I could've done with a little more white CIS male privilege.)

I don't know anything about Supernatural, so I didn't know that about Stonewall. I have heard that the OWS movement was actually a Star Trek convention that doubled as a platform to push for Federation values of in America.

Title: Advanced Theory
Author: Dualism
TRIGGER WARNING (just to be safe!): Dub-con, bordering on non-con.

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3267853/1/Advanced-Theory

Kingdom Hearts Riku/Sora AU fic, which uses the "fake dating" trope for the kind of gut-wrenching ANGST that doesn't leave your mind for a long time. I've lost count of how many times I've re-read it, it's one of my favourites. And it's complete, too. :)
pantswarrior: Smiling Kotetsu and Barnaby. (partners)

Re: fic rec?

[personal profile] pantswarrior 2012-11-14 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I wrote one for Tiger & Bunny that people seem to like.

Basic premise: Slightly drunken Barnaby confesses his love to a slightly drunken Kotetsu, who doesn't know how to react - but he doesn't want to disappoint Barnaby, since Barnaby's life has been so miserable up to that point. So he goes along with it, figuring Barnaby will realize before long that he's just confused and not actually in love and the whole thing will be called off. And of course things get way, way out of hand.
