Must be a regional thing, because it doesn't sound weird to me. It's an alternative for a "These days/Basically" type of phrase. Needs a comma though.

Like: I used to correct every grammar error I saw. Anymore/These days/Basically, I just let it go, unless it's a major error.

It's not Yoda-ish. Yoda-ish would be
"I used to hiking every summer. The strength in me, I do not have anymore."

Seems to be a regional thing. Everybody I've seen use it is from New York (state, not City. Though in this case the state does, in fact, include the city).

That's kind of weird, because I'm from Kansas, and wouldn't necessarily associate the way we talk with the way east-coasters talk.

This. Sounds like something the hillbillies around here would say, not something i'd associate with the east coast.

I'm from New York (City) and I've never heard that in my life.

I'm from upstate and I've never heard anyone use anymore like that either.

In fact, I'd go as far as to say anyone talking like that here would be considered a hillbilly.
