So I'm gonna be the one to say it, huh? That the people who are all bitching about NaNo being crap and boo hoo words are... people who can't do it.

I'm currently at almost 75K, and you know what? I know a lot of it is crap. It's SUPPOSED to be crap! It's not about spitting out a perfect first draft. No one spits out a perfect first draft. It's about getting all you people who say you want to be writers off your butts and practicing the art of writing, because we all know November is the only month you'll ever write, and you won't even bother editing in December.

And for those of us who say "I am a writer," it's a way to help us focus on the the draft, reminding us that it's not going to be perfect the first time around, but if you can get the words, you can deal with making it make sense later.

You don't like it? Fine. You completely and utterly fail at NaNo? Fine. But don't give those of us who a) love and b) actually can meet and exceed the goal shit because you can't do it.

You just can't do it. Go fail in your own corner and leave us alone.

Well, I manage to write pages upon pages when I'm left alone, but something about the word counter and time limit adds pressure that I can't live up to with the demands of my paying job. So I'm glad you love it and happy that you succeed in it, but maybe don't judge us failures so harshly? Some of us are already miserable enough about it.
