No, I give my Sims legit book titles. One of my sims actually became a successful director AND a published author. Man, I'd be so happy if that happened to me.

I also don't read/write fanfiction. I don't have the attention span.

Why, yes, yes I do. But also...

I've got a whole bunch of fandom characters saved in CAS, so sometimes when I've got a story in mind but don't have a clear idea of the hero's appearance, I start with a fandom character as a base and just tweak their coloring and hairstyle and such to get my new character. I like to leave little references to the fandom character, though, like their favorite color or food, and then if they write books, the titles all reference the character as well. It's like my own private in-joke.

No not everyone does that. However that doesn't mean it's weird or bad that you do! Obviously you have fun, which is the whole point right?

(Anonymous) 2012-11-18 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
my sims' books are always the "default" / suggested titles...

I've done that, but I usually give them legit titles. Some of the stories I've come up with that my Sims "wrote" are things I actually want to write.

I do that too~

I do this too!

Haha, I do something like this? At this point probably 95% of my Sims ARE fandom Sims, and when they write books (or even discover stars) the title will be a reference to the canon or fanon. My Billy (Young Avengers) Sim wrote all of Young Avengers and named a Star after his boyfriend. This is super helpful for me because I'm *shit* at coming up with titles.

Oh nearly all the time, OP. The main exception is when I'm playing my Jeeves and Wooster/Holmes and Watson sims; then I make them write the canon in order. I get such an excessive buzz when the reception notification seems particularly apt :-)

I've totally done this :D I had an author sim whos every book title was the name of a Supernatural episode

(Anonymous) 2012-11-19 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Oh man, I thought I was the only one. I give my Sims' book titles that are paraphrasing the titles of fanfics, and imagine that the fandom they are writing for doesn't exist in the Simsverse so it's original fiction to them.

To the OP of this, and any other simmers who may be interested: there is a (long-running) secrets communtiy for sims called Sim Secret. It posts every friday.

Thank you, nonnie!

haha, I used to read those. But they were all so angry and confusing!! The sims community is kind of weird.

I've done that.

Of course I've made my Sims my favorite characters from shows too..

(Anonymous) 2012-11-19 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
No, I just let them have the default title names. I'm not much of a writer though, and I am appallingly bad at remembering titles versus content

I'm just loving the sims secret. ♥

I do this too. It amuses me. Or I just write something corny that will make me laugh.

I don't, but probably only because I hadn't thought of it. I am totally naming some of my Sim's books after my fics from now on. :B
