I know a lot of opinions differ on this but I don't think you're obligated to answer reviews. Reviews are an answer to your posting the fic. They are there to let you know someone read and liked the story and their thoughts on it. So I really don't think you need to feel guilty about it. Tho I know guilt is often illogical.

that's how I feel. Unless a review has a question in it, I generally don't answer them.

Just commenting to say I was pleasantly surprised to see the bg pic scrolling down. OTP, squee, feels, etc. Carry on.

Can't you leave an Author's Note at the end of the story or after every couple of chapters or so, saying you appreciate the reviews but you can't answer every single one of them personally?

KisaIta on the other hand, hm. It's not a ship I've considered before but I can see the potential.

Aaaaand I'm slightly creeped out that Google knows the "shark guy" in "shark guy itachi" is Kisame.

WAH. OH I MUST ANSWER ALL REVIEWS.

NO. NO YOU DO NOT.

REVIEWS ARE FOR YOU. NOT FOR THOSE WHO REVIEW. IF YOU WANT TO RESPOND, RESPOND! IF YOU DON'T WANT TO RESPOND TO WEAK BABY REVIEW, OR REVIEW SAYS WHAT HAS BEEN SAID... DON'T RESPOND STUPID!

CRY SOME MOARRRR

I personally get a little anxious when authors answer my feedback if I didn't ask a question or go on and on about something because then I want to thank them for thanking me. XD

I'm actually pretty relieved to see an author's note about appreciating feedback but not being able to reply to it all. And in my opinion, using that time to post more fic is the best way to thank your audience! :D

I have just now realized that your icon is not a clay shoe, like my brain had been previously been processing, but is instead a picture of a finger with and adorable little life form atop it.

tl;dr omg my brain has been farting for months.

[personal profile] anonymouslyyours 2012-11-19 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Well it's better than the penis most people think is in my icon.

I, uh, am intensely curious as to how my icon looks like a clay shoe though. *squints*

(Anonymous) 2012-11-19 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
I have a slight eye condition that can occasionally cause colors in far away/small images to bleed together/get switched around. So the upper right corner of the image (for some reason) made the finger look clay-colored, and my mind automatically assumed the greenish blob was some sort of plant.

Of course, this only happens when the image is in the periphery of my vision. Once I looked directly at your icon my brain was like "Waitaminute!" and now I can no longer see the once proud clay ronald-mcdonald-shoe-with-a-plant-in-it that I once could.

[personal profile] anonymouslyyours 2012-11-19 06:18 am (UTC)(link)
Ah. That makes sense. I wonder if you're going to see me in a different light now that I am no longer a clown shoe planter?

WHAT I THOUGHT IT WAS A CLAY THING TOO
maybe not a shoe but like a little... clay... pot? or something? I never saw the fingernail

When I only glance at your icon in passing or see it out of the corner of my eye, my brain processes it as a piece of fruit -- like an apple or peach with a leaf still attached to the stem.

I only review when I have something significant to say, and I receive a reply for one review out of five. I review maybe 15 fics a year, so replies are rare.

I think most authors are like you, OP. Except for the hoarding fic thing. That's odd to me. I post as soon as I finish something. But that happens so rarely anyway.

I thought that Kisame was holding Konan, until I took a closer look. Extra bishounen!Itachi is very girly. (The body language really adds to it.)

Anxiety over review etiquette is part of the reason I have finished fics sitting on my hard drive, too. Putting something up on a kink meme is far easier. I dunno what to tell you, except that the very people who reviewed your stuff would probably appreciate a cheerful note thanking them at large and accompanied by more writing from you than flawless individual responses. People tend to understand when you have hundreds of reviews that don't ask any questions or offer any concrit that a simple "thank you!" to each and every one is impractical.

Also Itachi makes a fab damsel, though I think he would stab Kisame if he didn't put him down soon.

OP, I'm pretty sure nobody who left a review is going to take it super personally that you haven't responded. Most of them probably don't ever think about it again.

Don't feel so bad. :)
