I agree with you, anon, in that the amount of hate is way overblown and mostly exists due to its popularity.

That said, I think there are some legitimate feminist criticisms against it, not like evil stuff but more like not-super-healthy-for-teenage-girls stuff, so... yeah.

...of course the vast popularity breeds hate? If it was a shitty book that nobody cared about, nobody would bother hating it. But since so many people seem to ~love~ it, all the people who recognize the shittiness get annoyed.

Also, since so many people read it and like it, it got recommended to a lot of people. So of those people didn't like it.

When a book gets really popular it is also exposed to more and more people who DON'T like it.
