If they were just books, that'd be fine. IMHO they're kinda trashy books, but there's an audience for that (I have a couple of books of the trashy romance variety myself, they're lovely to read on a lonely night).

The problem is that these books are not being marketed or represented as the trashy romance they are. Twilight is being marketed as
A) an accurate depiction of vampire lore, werewolf lore, and indigenous people (SMeyer openly admits she just made up stuff for all three and didn't give a fuck about research on any of them, which is probably most offensive with the indigenous people because those actually exist)
B) a psychologically healthy romance. Titillating, yes, healthy, no.

And there are people trying to live these books. THESE ARE NOT BOOKS TO LIVE BY. THESE ARE TRASHY ROMANCE NOVELS WRITTEN TO GET YOUR JOLLIES ON.

I'm happy for you for finding your dream dude, OP, but Twi hate is not just because we're bigoted and don't have a sense of fun.
