Donna's memory being erased in Doctor Who. I would have been so fucking impressed if RTD had the balls to have the Doctor give Donna the choice whether or not she wanted to die rather than forget. Or, even better, to convince her that she has always been brilliant even before she met him, and he isn't the one who made her brilliant, and she won't lose her brilliance if she goes back and she can still be magnificent without him.

What actually happened was such an unnecessary and unpleasant disappointment for the sake of aaaaannngggst and shoehorned-in gloom because the episode's ending was too happy or something.

Oh, God this.

And then he didn't have the guts to stick to a fairly important point in that episode: "If she remembers me even a little, if she even SEES me, she'll die." Yet later, she sees him, she remembers him... and she's FINE.

This. Horrible writing. Whenever people complain about Moffatt's sexism, I just want to point to RTD's treatment of Donna. Just ugh.
