I will never forgive this writer for X!

Plot twists, story arcs, and character derailment that you will never forgive the writers/editors/executives of a show/book/movie/comic title for is a go! Commence ranting here!

We get that you hate Castiel or anyone who gets in the way of your precious Winchesters, Sera Gamble. But that's really no excuse to completely write him out of the series for the most part and then at the end come up with a plot to make him the Big Bad.

Seriously I was traumatized by the season six finale. I hate Sera Gamble. This was the first fandom I was ugly-sobbing obsessed with and she took every opportunity to limit character growth except for Winchester brother angst.

CARVER 5EVER I AM JUST SAYING

MMMMMMMAAAAARRRRRRVVVEEEEEEEELLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!

Listing the specifics would take too much time, because their net output is more "unforgivable" than "good" or "passable" or even "forgivable".

It's nothing specific but I have a problem with writers who use certain things like death, sex, and other tabooish stuff only for the shock value. These are seriously important moments that can happen. They can do a lot to the plot. They can really let us see a character for who they really are or change them forever. These are important moments and using them solely for the shock value really cheapens everything and makes it meaningless.

And I can't find myself caring about things I deem meaningless.

The Matthias' betrayal twist in Mastiff by Tamora Pierce. Ugh. Sloppiest plot twist I've seen her do and she utterly destroyed Matthias' previous characterization to do it.

Also not a fan of the rushed love plot between Beka and Farmer and I hated that the book started with the funeral of Beka's abusive fiance who we never met and never heard of before the funeral.

Blah. That whole book was a serious disappointment.

Everything Chuck Austen did when he was writing the X-Men. Highlights of his run were, for example, the time some of the X-Men were crucified on the school lawn, Catholic Church and communion wafers (don't ask), Nightcrawler's daddy turning out to be a real demon, Archangel and Husk having sex while flying in front of her family, Polaris going crazy, and oh god I don't want to be reminded of any of this.

Jack Spicer (main antagonist in season 1, ditzy and cowardly but kind of competent) and Omi's (naive and self-righteous, but willing to make an effort for his friends) character derailment in Xiaolin Showdown (Jack turned into a complete idiot and even more cowardly than before; Omi's arrogance grew greater than before). Plus, the rest of the characters didn't get as much development as I would have liked. (Except Raimundo, kid's okay. :3)

Man, I love Chase Young and Hannibal Roy Bean and all that, but they didn't have to dumb down the other characters to balance it all out and I almost resent them being introduced. Almost.

Donna's memory being erased in Doctor Who. I would have been so fucking impressed if RTD had the balls to have the Doctor give Donna the choice whether or not she wanted to die rather than forget. Or, even better, to convince her that she has always been brilliant even before she met him, and he isn't the one who made her brilliant, and she won't lose her brilliance if she goes back and she can still be magnificent without him.

What actually happened was such an unnecessary and unpleasant disappointment for the sake of aaaaannngggst and shoehorned-in gloom because the episode's ending was too happy or something.

Superman: Grounded was so awful it actually made me question my love for Straczynski's earlier work.

I don't know if games count, but The Third Birthday was truly, offensively bad. Games already have a shitty track record when it comes to writing female protagonists respectfully, but Square-Enix's treatment of Aya Brea was especially horrendous. I've never been so ashamed while playing a game.

I forget who wrote it, but I forced my way through the entire Return to Labyrinth manga only to find out that my OTP (Jareth/Sarah) wasn't endgame after all.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Moffat yet, tbh.

I can't forgive the writers for most of the V remake. Such an interesting premise, decent actors, good effects! It could have been awesome! But instead they were just sloppy and hardly anything made sense and they didn't put any effort into making me care about ANYONE and yet somehow it was addictive enough to keep me watching even though I spent most of every episode tutting.

I don't think I will ever be able to forgive the creators of the Catch-22 movie for how fucked up they made it. It's just a goldarned mess. Why did they have Hungry Joe chopped, for instance, not Kid Sampson? He barely had played any role in the previous events, what difference would it make?

Then they cut all the personalities. Doc Daneeka (whom I love as a character) lost his good part, McWatt wasn't even there until he killed himself, Hungry Joe wasn't there, Major Major just does what he does without any explanations et c. Wtf was that even? And all the events are messed like hell. And, and, where's the Bologna mission?

The movie is just incomprehensible and doesn't make any sense. I wish they'd put less events there, but more characterizations and more of an idea. Yossarian is probably the only good thing in the entire work. At least I smiled when he finally escaped, although the final scene was immensely awkward, too.

The ending of Fullmetal Alchemist. Ed was my favorite character, and he got such a fucking short end of the stick. And it's even worse, because basically everybody else got off scot free.
And the narrative pretends there was no sacrifice. No sacrifice my ass.

Ronald D. Moore for killing off Tory in such a domestic abuse-y, misogynistic-y way, and for not giving Boomer a happy ending. Well, if not happy, then an ending where she is redeemed without dying.

J.K. Rowling for not establishing Dumbledore as gay within book canon. In between being indecisive about whether she was writing a series for children, or one that would grow up with its readership, she kinda just wrote a series that would guarantee to sell. Bah :U

Joss Whedon. Serenity.

Nobody read this alright, but that's exactly the reason why I have nobody to discuss the thing with.

"The Dark Water", the third part of a book series by David Pirie. In fact, I'm deeply in love with it, but what weirded me out was that in the end Cream was still alive. What is he, a waterproof bulletproof fireproof freaking titanium man? They actually burnt him, that is. Burnt him alive. In a locked room. And he is. Still. There. How David Pirie was ever going to explain that?

Even the drowsing stick part doesn't bug me, I actually find it thrilling in a way and immensely cool. But Cream's immortality? Couldn't they go after somebody else already? It seems like a great part of Doyle's and the Doctor's lives was wasted on chasing Neill. I feel like they risk going mad after it ends.

Gordon Dahlquist for The Red Volume. Like, I'm not sure whether he's trying to write as an unreliable narrator because it isn't working. So many spoilers because wow, that book pissed me off. I actually wrote a big comment about it to a friend when I finished it years ago and it's still pretty accurate of my feelings:

Three main characters; each character gets their own POV chapter (in third person) and the girl is semi-attracted to the other two guys but it doesn't hinder or anything. One guy is an assassin who had his prostitute lover killed and is still upset. The other is a doctor who loved another character but then got upset when they found out she was the lover of an enemy (but it's not like she could even remember because they stole her memories).

They split up again in the beginning (basically because the guys are butthurt about love in some form, so they just left the unconscious main girl in a village with no-memory girl) and spend 400 pages trying to find one dude/what is going on in the first place. Eventually, we find out everyone's looking for him because they're going to bring a dead person back with his body as a vessel. Along the way, they sort of team up with their rivals from the first book.

The vessel works, but he's completely insane because they brought him back from the moment before he died. Crazy guy changes a hurt enemy into complete glass for power and wants to use another enemy's daughter, which everyone freaks out about. No-memory girl runs away with daughter. Glass guy makes himself explode, and the main three run away while everyone else pretty much dies.

SO THEN, the girl and assassin are running away in a nearby and she chooses that time to get mad at him for leaving the village in the beginning. He stammers and they start kissing each other, but assassin pushes girl away while he gets killed by their enemy-turned-ally-turned-enemy-again. Main girl runs away and bumps into an annoying army captain. The doctor is also there and is basically like 'I have nothing to live for, so strike me as you wish' and fights the captain to death.

Main girl finds no-memory girl and the daughter. Main girl was just irritated that she saw her allies and previous enemies together in a group because she was the last one to arrive at the place, so she basically beats the shit out of no-memory girl. The person that killed the assassin comes up and knocks her out. She wakes up with no-memory girl dead and the daughter taken.

"She would reach the canal. Beyond the canal was the train. She had money in her boot. Beyond the train was the city, her certain death...and her revenge."

Just what she's going to do as revenge is a complete mystery.

What I forgot to mention was that the beginning of the sequel was completely different from the ending of the first book (where the characters were alive and happy and actively pursuing the island) and that the author spent half a page describing a blue glass penis while the glass guy himself is about to explode and kill everyone.

The third book just came out, so I need to find it somewhere just to finish it off.

I'll never forgive Lemony Snicket for that goddamn sugar bowl.

I will never forgive KA Applegate for the ending of Animorphs. ALL MY RAGE.

I will also never forgive whatever company dubbed Cardcaptor Sakura for not airing Cardcaptors correctly in the US. I don't even care about a lot of the censorship things, I had no idea it was censored when I was a kid - all I knew was that they kept referencing episodes I had never seen and, in fact, had never been aired.

Also, DC for how they're handling new 52.

Oh - and I will never, ever forgive anyone involved in the making of Love Never Dies. Andrew Lloyd Weber, you should be ashamed of yourself. Otto was on a mission from God, and you didn't listen.

Big Bang Theory from mid season 4 on. It's not happy feeling anymore. Penny is now considered too stupid to even write a simple, college report on the Civil War without her "doting" boyfriend coming in behind her fixing it. She calls him out on it, which was awesome!! Bu it was then completely dashed when you find out she got Amy and Bernadette to write it for her....with them hinting that yeah, she's too fucking stupid to write papers.

And I'm super convinced that Amy will trick Sheldon into sex and, lo and behold, he'll love it!! Which will wreck everything that Sheldon is. I'm not even mad that Penny/Sheldon will never happen. I just can't fucking stand Amy/Sheldon.

And Penny/Leonard is never gonna go away. Despite how forced the relationship feels, how insecure Leonard is (his not trusting penny at all with her class partner in the latest episode, even though she told him he had nothing whatsoever to worry about).

UGH

I just want those four to break up and be BFFs. And nothing more to any of them. At all. They all work best as FRIENDS.

Also, WHY THE FUCK IS BERNADETTE WITH HOWARD?! I was liking that pair!! Howard felt like he was growing into a good character!! But he's gotten worse and worse with the prospect of moving out and his codependency with his mom. Bernadette had to make a compromise after they finally moved out so he could stay home for a few more nights. UGH. WHY.

I miss season 1-3. ;~;
