The ending of Fullmetal Alchemist. Ed was my favorite character, and he got such a fucking short end of the stick. And it's even worse, because basically everybody else got off scot free.
And the narrative pretends there was no sacrifice. No sacrifice my ass.

Ed got what he wanted, though, what he'd been trying to get since Trisha died - a family.

Granted, it took me a while to come to that conclusion. I was shocked and sick that he no longer had his alchemy at first, then I thought, well, Al's back, and then later, after I'd re-read the entire series, I saw so many hints that, to Ed, family was the most important thing - and his joy at the end of the series made so much more sense to me then.

Exactly. He got his brother back without having to sacrifice himself or his friends for the exchange. Plus, Ed was a genius alchemist even without clappy alchemy so it wasn't even a loss imho.
