I don't put much faith in hit counts only because it only tells you how many people clicked your link. I've clicked links to fics by accident before or started to read a fic but I didn't enjoy it enough to finish it.

Plus it counts every individual hit. Which means if someone went and read it, commented, then came back again later it would be counted as another hit. Heck, if any of this author's readers are like me with fic I like, at least 30 of those hits could have come from a single person going back and re-reading it. Which means comments will never add up to hits unless the author expects someone to leave another comment every time they re-visit the fic l-lol.
