You're not alone. I think the movie was gratuitous fluff. I don't hold it in the same canon continuity as the series AT ALL. This is also very possibly my favorite anime series ever. <3

And whut, I kind of thought that a majority of fans felt this way about the movie...Maybe it was the ending that hooked them ??

It seems to be kind of a tradition with anime for OVA or movie versions to have little to nothing to do with a series. I remember the Escaflowne movie was so drastically different than the show.

This. I adore Inuyasha but the movies gave me secondhand embarrassment. I could just read badly plotted, terribly ooc fanfic for the time I spent trying to get through them.

Escaflowne~~. I love both the show and the movie, but they are very drastically different.

My thoughts with OVAs/Movies vs Series are that it's literally impossible to squeeze all of a shows canon into something like an OVA/Movie, so they often tend to just be selective or just toss canon out the window. XD
