If i like the fic, i comment, if i don't, i don't.

maybe more authors need to remember this when complaining about not getting comments.

that maybe, just MAYBE, it's not about mooching fans who have no regard or respect for the authors and that it may be that their fic does, in fact, SUCK.

but I have also found that many authors who complain about no feedback are those who are also suffering from Golden Word Syndrome, even when they profess to mouthing the words that they love all levels of commentary, including critiques.

until the rubber meets the road...then we see what stuff they're actually made of.

It's possible. But it's also possible people are just jackasses.

And the problem with 'here's where you fic isn't any good' is that all too often, people inject their own preferences and wants into their critique, instead of actually *critiquing*. I know i do, which is why i don't beta at all.

What it boils down to is - people want someone to say 'wow, i liked that!' It's why they post, it's why they *continue* to post. It's not being 'entitled' to hope that your work is noticed and maybe praised. It's human nature.
