But Marvel had Sleipnir as a character, meaning that Loki is at least horse-sexual. (Or forgot to use a condom and was very unlucky.)

Scratch that, you can have sex with someone without being sexually attracted to them.

sleipnir jesus fucking christ sleipnir is my literal favourite character from norse mythology tbh its so ridiculous

i hope sleipnir makes it into the cinematic universe somehow because i really want to see people confused and or crying

(Anonymous) 2012-11-19 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Well....he's ridden in Thor, so he at least exists there.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-20 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
^ This. When Thor and co are about to bite it in Frost Giant Land, Odin comes crashing in save the day on an eight-legged horse. So in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he IS a horse fucker. XD

(Anonymous) 2012-11-20 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
It's not MCU canon. At no time is Slepnir introduced as Loki's offspring.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-20 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, now you're grasping at straws.

(And you should be grasping at hay. Horses eat hay.)

Next thing you'll say Magneto is never introduced as Professor X's boyfriend.

Norse mythology in general is goddamn ridiculous and that's why I love it. The Greeks and Egyptians are trying to be all serious about this shit, while up north, the Vikings are going "HEY, OUR GODS ARE BASICALLY BUDDY COPS AND HEAVEN MEANS WE GET TO KILL THE SHIT OUT OF EACH OTHER AND DRINK ALL DAY, IT'S THE STONE-COLD COOLEST."

(Anonymous) 2012-11-20 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
Egyptians are serious, even when smearing semen on salad and ripping off people's genitals. And sisters raping brothers.
leikomgwtfbbq: (dude what)

[personal profile] leikomgwtfbbq 2012-11-20 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
It wasn't like the Greek myths were much better about... any of that, really. The ancient world was fucking weird.

The ancient world was fucking weird.

Compared to... Mormonism and Scientology? ;P

Hey, at least Mormons don't have stories about some dude's holy dong getting cut off and spawning gods and monsters all over the place when it lands. At least, as far as I know. I don't know much about Mormons, honestly.

And Scientology? Hey, that was made (allegedly) on a bet by a hack scifi author! It's supposed to be weird!

[personal profile] anonymouslyyours 2012-11-20 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
Yet. Who knows what a tiny thousand year game of telephone will do to Mormon's magic underwear?

And no matter Scientology's origins there are still people who hold firm convictions in it!

TRUMP CARD: tinhatter shippers.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-20 11:38 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry. But no, Greek mythology isn't really that serious. At all.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-20 01:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I maintain that we might have a different impression of Greek mythology if so much of it hadn't been transmitted to us through Roman fanfiction.

Odin was riding him in Thor, but they didn't *talk* about him.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-19 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
In comics canon, I'm pretty sure both Sleipnir and Hela have been retconned out of being Loki's kids, though I have no idea about the rest of 'em.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-20 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
Hela has. There was some guide to Marvel pets that was published and said Loki was his mother but I don't think the comics themselves ever adress it.

[personal profile] taotrooper 2012-11-20 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't seen Sleipnir's origin yet, but the currrent version/retcon re: Hela is that she's not his daughter but she was still created by Loki. Timey wimey and a lot of writing were involved.

While he exists in Marvel canon, it's not as Loki's son. He's just a random eight-legged horse.
