maybe there are Americans who care about your issues because their family comes from your area of the world or they just plain care.

/waits for mention of the very very caring American funding of the IRA...

I love the "Americans care more about your country's issues than you do" self-back-patting.

Or how Ronald Reagan armed Saddam Hussein. Or how the USA actively supported religious fundamentalism in Afghanistan to create a bulwark against communism.

AYRT
Yeah, there's loads of other stuff, plenty of Latin American democracies the US forcibly replaced with fundie dictatorships also in the name of fighting communism, but most people in the US don't actually... know that....

"plenty of Latin American democracies the US forcibly replaced with fundie dictatorships also in the name of fighting communism"

And not only to fight communism, there are other excuses reasons the US use to control surreptitiously "democratic" countries in this part of the world.

True fact. You don't get it so much now, but as an Irish person, getting lectured about "the Cause" by Irish-American terrorist apologists made me want to puke. Anyone who ever put money in a NORAID bucket in a Boston bar has fucking blood on their hands.

Seconding this. My mother's side is Irish and from Southie. That crap is really annoying.

Southie?

South Boston, Massachusetts.
