If one holds the sapir whorf hypothesis as inarguably true, and far reaching.

It's very easy to make an argument that this is not the case, and that in practical meaning the reference to the vagina, and the reference as an insult are entirely divorced etymologically and conceptually in most peoples minds.

It's an insult because people have been taught it's insulting. In casual usage people do not consider, or are influenced by the connection between the two, ergo it does not contribute to sexism in culture.
