Wow. I actually completely forgot her parents ever even existed. And their existence was a pretty big plot point in the Series 5 finale.

I think this pretty much sums up Moffat's characters, period.

There's a good Snarry fic I like with that premise as well; everyone sorted in Slytherin after the war has his or her magic monitored and their rights are limited. It's pretty chilling.

Personally, the idea of hating one of the Doctors makes absolutely no frickin' sense to me because I don't view them as separate characters at all (yes, I like every single Doctor, really, can't even pick a favorite incarnation -- if I had to pick, my favorite is always "the one I saw most recently"). So I see every incarnation in the context of the entire history of the character, and my brain processes it as "different stage of his character arc" rather than "different person".

I suppose it's technically possible for them to cast an actor I can't stand or write him in a way that does nothing for me....but it hasn't happened yet and even if it did, it would be "I don't enjoy watching him" rather than "I don't like him". Is that a weird approach to the character?

I'm actually kind of hoping it's Chibnall. I mean, the guy can't do emotional execution to save his life, but his plots are actually pretty enjoyable.

On one hand, there should be an expiry date on most wank. For example, the artist-formerly-known-as-Snapesnogger, once a potent provider of teh wanks, has gone on to become a decent human being and member of fandom. Her wank tried to follow her into one fandom, and she made it clear that she knew she hadn't behaved particularly well, but that she was also a grown woman, and had been sixteen at the time. Hey, aces.

Of course, she was also, y'know, drawing her own stuff, however weird and wanky it was.

Claire played the plagiary game, on a pretty messed up level, but what weirds me out more is how much she just kept trying to cover it up. Dude, it's fanfiction. Just own up, and everyone would be on their merry. But no, not so much. So I just don't feel like reading any of her "real" books, because heck, who knows if she's doing the same thing and has just learned to cover her tracks better.

Also, the "charity" incident.

The notion is that the hat could see deep within you to what makes up 'you', and that essence of you-ness was not going to drastically change, ergo it sorted you into houses that would foster those traits and help you become the best 'you' you could be.

It didn't determine anyone's life, it just let you see who you really were and surrounded you with others with similar traits. Whether that was good or bad in the end is debatable (look at American politics and how divided everything is when people shutter themselves away with those who think exactly the same), but the intentions were solid.

Oh, I loved that moment so much. Did you ever hear the commentary of that moment? They were talking about how they might not have done it because they didn't really like man touching but thought that this was perfect and it needed to be there.

I also like another moment with Jack. It's the one where Sam has been running away in the wood from an Anubis drone for a freaking long time. When it's finally dead she just leans against him. It was the perfect moment of "two old soldiers". But, Sam's a woman so...

Although, I really like the level of just blatant respect Daniel and Jack built between them.

This view drives me crazy. Some people can't easily separate the two because that's just how their brain works. I don't think it's something that should be brushed off by calling the person a "weirdo." It's almost as bad as "retard."
