Only on Tumblr can you find a long list of reposts about how Hitler wasn't 'evil' he just loved his people too much and got his heart twisted. Because the mass genocide of not only people of Jewish decent, but homosexuals, "gypsies"*, people of Polish decent, the sick, etc, was really going to bring Germany out of their WW1 problems.

All I'm really seeing is some poorly worded "Hey guise did you ever stop to think that Hitler didn't realize he was evil?!?" and not the kind of "Hitler did the best he could in a difficult situation so chill!" I was expecting.

Making Hitler a woobie ALA Loki is really not that great either, just saying.

Wait, I'm fairly sure this is an admitted troll--isn't she the one who a few months ago was writing impassioned screeds about how oppressed she was as a person who was trans-ethnic and trans-abled and also part of a multiple system that included fae and maybe some sort of immortal winged cyborg furry. And how it was so UNFAIR of her parents to expect her to get a job--because she only looked like a grown-up human; inside she was really a cat.

I think I mixed this person up with someone else--which was fairly stupid of me, to assume that two people named Jenn spouting ridiculous shit on tumblr had to be the same person. And the Tumblr is gone now too.

The person I supposed Jenn to be went by Wearyturtle, she claimed that she was a multiple system living inside a "22 year old white, female, female bodied, cisgendered, transabled, pansexual, aromantic, asensual human," and she and her alter both had headmates and at least one of the headmates had an alter, including a toddler, a faerie, a Japanese telepath and a flying Jack Russell terrier. Also, her alter, Justice, was an objectum sexual in love with a bookcase called Hunter. And she was upset that her parents wanted her to go to school and get a job, because "work intended for an adult human cannot be done by a toddler and a flying dog."

But I'm fairly sure this person was trolling the hell out of the Tumblr multiple, otherkin, vegan, FA and sj communities...

Well, yes, of course he was. And it is important to seek comprehension, understanding, of the reality of historical issues. But the route to that understanding is not having your mind blown by the revelation that there were reasons for what Hitler did, or attempts to redeem him. Of course there were - he was a human being. But he was evil, because of the choices which he, as a human being, made - because of the things that he did, even thinking they were good. The fact that he thought they were good choices does not make them understandable; the fact that he might have thought it for the good of the country does not make it noble. The fact is that he was a human being, and it is for that reason that we are justified in judging him.

So fuck Hitler. He was a human being, and fuck him.

Not sure if that was general or directed at me so to clarify I completely agree with what you just said. I think, if anything, upon the realization Hitler was human people should be more disgusted and angered by what he did.

Yeeeah, gotta agree with the first anon, though I get that you're venting. Sadly, Neo-nazi's, and Nazi sympathizers, are still around as disgusting and horrifying as that is.

I agree, he was evil. But the sad thing is was that he was a human just like us; with at least one loving parent, and his own hopes and aspirations. But through his own choices and convictions, he became one of the most reviled figures in humanities brief history.

The horror of the Nazis, for me, is that it wasn't Hitlers choices and convictions alone that put him in power, but the choices and convictions of those around him. He was just one man. It took countless just like him - and worse - to put him where he was and let him stay there, to carry out his orders of their own free will. Scary as shit.

If they admit mass genocide even happened at all, they're half a step up from some (depressingly articulate) Nazi sympathizers I've run into.
