Re: Fictional deaths/distresses
(Anonymous) 2012-12-02 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)Aeryn's reaction to TalynJohn's death in Infinite Possibilities/The Choice kills me. Every. Time. Niagara Falls.
There's another fandom where a particular death has, apparently, sent me off in a snit, but I still think I'll get over it eventually.
Re: Fictional deaths/distresses
(Anonymous) 2012-12-02 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)Wish you get over it! I now how painful it is. But is there also a bit of sweetness/satisfaction added? Because sometimes the way the character dies/others react is heartbreaking, but it makes the work better and one ends up feeling bad because of the death yet feeling good because of the quality of the work >.< (Then brain BSoD happens)
Re: Fictional deaths/distresses
I said something similar in my reply about Buffy's mom's death in BtVS. The character's death was sad but didn't really effect me, it was the characters reactions that really got to me. Anya in particular.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-03 01:58 am (UTC)(link)Lewis' death in Flashpoint didn't hurt as much as watching Spike and the rest of the team basically fall apart as it happened...

Re: Fictional deaths/distresses
But then the exceptions, Fullmetal Alchemist and book 7 of Harry Potter. Every time. Deathly Hallows especially- it's like, I spent so long being invested in these characters and then they just drop like flies, OMGWTFJKR! And then somehow FMA manages to be just as brutal from the get-go, especially the first anime. ;__;
