I'm the same, even though I would almost definitely buy the book in hardcopy as well. I've said it before and I'll keep saying it: hardcopy books should come with a download code for their digital copy. I am not buying the same book twice just so I can carry it around a little easier.

I too wish this were a thing. Although in my case, I just don't feel any guilt over illegally dl'ing ebooks that I own the hardcopy of.

I never buy digital copies unless they're reasonably priced. If Amazon has the harcover or paperback for less than the Kindle version (which they almost always do), I get a pirated copy of the digital edition. The publishers control pricing on digital editions and the retailers control the prices on the hardcopy editions, so usually only the hardcopy editions are reasonably priced. The publishers need to understand that they aren't discouraging pirating, especially when they're response is to jack up the prices; they're encouraging it.

I never thought about that, but that's a really good idea.

I really don't get it when I want to buy an ebook...but it's not available in my country? WTF. It's an EBOOK. I can get a hardcopy, why can't I buy a digital copy?

FINE THEN. I'll go pirate it.

Yeah, the publishers are really hurting themselves with the insane restrictions they put on ebooks. Not to mention the prices...

It probably won't, because it's not snazzy enough to get popular in the mainstream book industry, and the analysis within the book, while awesome, doesn't seem to have crossover appeal to the movies. If you really want to read it, purchase the book, or check to see if it's in (or coming up) in your local library.

I can't stand the author so that'd be the only way I'd read it.
