Okay, I haven't seen the most recent season and I'm not super familiar with the comics but: isn't she a zombie? and didn't he have to feed her people to keep her "alive"? I'm okay with killing her.

I never got the sense he was trying to wean her off eating flesh, just trying to get her to behave in a certain way (looking at him instead of the waiting bucket of flesh) before he would feed her. Didn't work, of course.
