I don't like his music either but I find his anti-fans make me increadibly uncomfortable. I mean, I've never seen a bad Bieber fan but I have seen a lot of horrid anti-Bieber fans. So if you asked me which group I disliked more I would definitly have to say the anti-fans. So many of them are completely toxic.

Then you've clearly never seen them bully and attack people for not liking him - think they drove one girl to near-suicide after she said she didn't like him anymore, and then when he lost that award to Esperanza Spaulding, they went NUTS and launched cyber attacks, wrote hateful things to her, changed her Wikipedia page to disgusting things... That's not even counting the things they've said to Kim Kardashian/Selena Gomez... Bieber fans are fucking TERRIFYING.

I had no idea and that's completely horrible.

What I don't get is why that behavior isn't policed and people pick on the guy who didn't even do it. Ridicule the fans* who do that, sure, but the guy himself? What did he freaking do?

*Only the ones who involve themselves in this behavior.

IA. I feel like there's a Hiddles corollary: Don't blame Loki for the Loki-stans. You just can't blame a celebrity for the absolute nutter-butter things that their fans do. Bieber fans can be scary, but this is true for just about anybody who has a large enough fan base.

Even last years X-Factor fans got scary when Rachel Crowe was sent home, but nobody can blame her the death threats people were sending to the judges.

And yeah, they really need to police that behavior a lot better.

TL;DR: Judge the fans, not who they're fanning over.

Ah, yes, this exactly. I may not like some of Hiddleston's fans but I never blame him for it.

I've seen a few but really they're not much different from the obsessive fans of any OTHER boy singer. I don't get the viciousness I really don't. Once Bieber loses popularity, it'll be another one and another one and another. And people will find a reason to hate them all some way or another.

It's sort of the same with the big Disney popstars too. Back in Hilary Duff's heydey there were people who were all 'ewewewew Hilary Duff ' including some chick who sent an angry letter to seventeen for featuring her on the cover and in a forum I was in someone commented that she should be given a restraining order from acting (a restraining order from a whole job? pfflol) . But now I see a lot of people remembering her fondly. *shrug* The hate is all about the hype usually.

some. I looked at a music video of hers on Youtube and was surprised when there wasn't the rabid foaming at the mouth hate I expected. Also the 'proud 90's kids' crowd seems to like her and find the early disney coms like Lizzie McGuire and That's So Raven endearing. apparently.

I kinda liked her music and movies a lot, and I admire that she didn't do anything too drastic after she left Disney to 'prove her maturity' other than taking different roles and basically letting her acting speak for itself.

Agreed. That's So Raven and Lizzie McGuire made my early primary school years. :)

I didn't watch her show but I'm sure she was. As much as I hate to admit it, Disney Channel has standards.

I think a lot of people blame the girls when the real problem is the merchandising and pushing them to be everywhere. I worked at Target at some point and remember when Hannah Montana stuff was everywhere. Of course I didn't really hate on the person for it but I did see how it could be annoying for someone seeing it everywhere.


Also it probably sucks for the girls once they get out because their image is so pumped up and everyone still sees them as the face of Disney and 'inherently innocent'. That's probably part of what leads to the others trying to prove their maturity. I still remember doing that in a writing form when I wrote fan-fiction. I tried to be "so dark and edgy" and now I look back on that shit with shame. I don't think it's smart for them to do that...but at the same time it seems hypocritical so judge because I used to be the same way. I thought writing sex scenes and darkfic would prove that I wasn't a kid anymore.

Yeah, Disney does have a problem on both those fronts. It's pretty depressing.

I also think it really sucks for the child stars of Disney because it seems that once Disney dumps them they're marked and no one ever wants to work with them again. The adults can still make it and get onto other networks and shows but Disney kids just disappear.
