Just the dumb backlash that happens to anything that gets so massively hyped. It happens because it allows people to define themselves against the popular mainstream "brainless" culture and say, "I'm not that, and it's good not to be that." It's not worth engaging with and the whole thing, both blind hysterical fandom and blind hysterical hatred, is so juvenile and... uh... for lack of a better word, teenaged. That it's not worth paying attention to. Immature.

I don't like his music either but I find his anti-fans make me increadibly uncomfortable. I mean, I've never seen a bad Bieber fan but I have seen a lot of horrid anti-Bieber fans. So if you asked me which group I disliked more I would definitly have to say the anti-fans. So many of them are completely toxic.

Besides, it's disgusting to see people who otherwise preach tolerance and acceptance saying how he looks like a girl, or a lesbian or whatever.

Yeah, he's an annoying little tyke, but name me a teenager that isn't. I think it's getting up there with the Kardashians or that Friday song where hating on them is getting to be an overdone cliche that gets noisier than the original object of hate. And then people think they're so edgy for disliking it, and won't shut up about it, and then I start wanting to set everything on fire.

Seriously, there needs to be some sort of Hipster-esque rule, where when hating on some pop phenomenon gets too popular, everyone needs to stop and find some new, more obscure thing to hate.

Bieber appeals to young teen and preteen girls. Therefore, it's almost socially mandatory that he be derided and that liking him be regarded as something shameful.

Until about a year ago, the only way I ever heard about him at all is through my other over-30 fandom friends bitching about how much they hated him. Since none of them have teenaged children who are fans, I couldn't (and still can't) understand how they even knew he existed, much less came to hate him so much. And he WAS a child at the time, which made it all the more disturbing. I distanced myself from all of those people because I was so disturbed by their obsession with him.

I'm really sick of people making assumptions about other people's intelligence based on the music they listen to, and I'm even more disgusted with the comments people make about JB personally. People apparently think it's funny to wish he would commit suicide or get beat up... it's sick.

Agreed. I'm not even in the demographic, and I think Bieber can be a bratty little douchebag /outside/ of his music, but the "LOL Bieber looks like a woman, isn't that like the most demeaning thing we can call him??" insults piss me the fuck off. Hate on him for being a spoiled brat (saw his MTV diary and... yeah) or for what he said about abortion (though who asks a 16-17yo that in an interview FFS), but a guy looking feminine should not be reason enough to pick on them.

my biggest problem is 98% of the hate he gets is homophobic and/or sexist. if you have legitimate complaints about his music or comments he's made, fine. but it's almost always 'lol he's such a fag' or referring to him as a she because he's not the definition of uber masculine so we must make fun of him.
