Race and physical attraction

At risk of this dissolving hopelessly into wank, I'm curious. There was a thread under a "non-fandom-secrets" thread a while ago that made me think of this. Basically, is there any race you're particularly attracted to?

While most races I'm not particularly biased for or against, I have noticed that the attributes considered conventionally attractive in Asian countries are closer to what attracts me than the conventionally attractive celebrities in Western media... despite the fact that I'm American. Most white American celebrities? Resounding meh. Most Korean celebrities? Yes please.

I guess it's not exactly a racial bias so much as a cultural one, since there are still plenty of people of other races I find attractive as well, but I just thought it was interesting.

I tend to be attracted to people who are white and have white facial characteristics, like a square jaw or chin. Sometimes I'll see a really cute asian guy and think he's attractive, but it's pretty rare. I also like cute, tall, trim black guys. Bonus points if any of the above are nerdy. Generally I like guys with nice eyes though.

I appreciate that you're not trying to start wank and I believe you, but the thing is that whenever people say "I'm just not attracted to Race X" or "I just think people of Race Y are more attractive!", when you dig a little deeper the motivations for those statements usually boil down to racism.

I AM SURE THERE ARE VALID EXCEPTIONS. But making a blanket statement about the general attractiveness of an entire race of people honestly never looks good to me. Even if you don't think you're being racist, chances are there's some unexamined prejudice at play there.

I'm beginning to think there's prejudice in everything everywhere, if not about race then about something else, and eventually we're going to drive ourselves insane trying to stamp it out.

I actually agree with you. And I don't think you're a SJW, you're far too decent in your comment! No insults or anything.

But yeah, as PoC, it makes me really uncomfortable when white people starting going on about how X race is cute or ugly or whatever. Going on about an individual of a different race, or even a feature (ie. I love almond eyes) I don't mind, but when it's the whole race it skeeves me out.
Probably because I think within my continent that depending on which country and which part you go the people there will look very different.

I have a preference for asian (build, features, cultural prejudices with a belief they're superior to my own culture in many ways). Aware of it, and find it problematic, but can't shake the subconscious response.

White people (me here), pakistani/indian/etc neutral on, and perfectly willing to date.

Spanish, Italian, south american, etc. Slight preference against, for a host of classists and cultural reasons.

Unfortunately I just don't find black people attractive.

I am the stereotype :x

There have been white, black and Asian women I have physically been attracted to.

If I'm actually trying to get to know somebody better with a possible relationship in the back of my mind, I'm more likely to stick with white women. I just think that culturally seen, there are better chances at a lesbian relationship this way.
Maybe I should add that black or Asian people where I live did not grow up here; if I know they grew up in a society where homosexuality is not seen as something horribly unpleasant, I have a slightly different take on things. I guess I just don't want to face more rejection than strictly necessary.

I don't have a preference for any particular race, but I think darker skin generally looks better than lighter skin because if you have darker skin it's easier to hide veins, acne, et cetera.

Or maybe it's just my white guilt speaking, haha.

But I don't pay much attention to appearance, anyway.

I feel like my preferences kinda of changed since I was a teenager. Back then I used to prefer the lanky nerdy boy type (usually asian) but now I prefer the taller, muscular type of guy. I don't really prefer asians anymore which is weird.

I've been attracted to people of many races, so i think maybe it's particular things i like that, if present, make me go 'yum', and the race doesn't matter.

I love long hair. LOVE. White, Asian, Native American, Black - don't care. I love it. Admittedly, i'd rather long dreads on a black guy than a really huge afro, but if the hair is long, i'm all over that.

Same for a body type. I like a lean swimmer/runner kind of body. Big and bulky doesn't do it for me. But get the body right and i've got stars in my eyes.

Every race has unique characteristics and it seems that those are the things that *make* the person attractive, rather than not. Ken-doll look-alikes are boring - bring on the different noses, eyes, mouths!

I don't have a preference but I do realize that I am attracted to different aspects of different ethnicities. However, I find all of these different aspects equally pleasing.

For example, I really like black people's hands. I like hands in general but I think black people normally have the most aesthetically pleasing hands to me. For people of Asian descent I find I really like the bridge of their nose/space between their eyes. For white people I tend to like their shoulders. I could go on but the list is long.

Obviously everyone is different and these things don't always hold true. They also don't really have any impact on who I find attractive as a whole. On top of that I either have a very low libido or am asexual so it really, really doesn't have much of an impact on me.

I prefer white/latino, since the facial features and characteristics that I find attractive are more common in them. Sure, there are some people from other races that I find attractive as well, but it happens far less frequently.

I'm typically not attracted to other whites - and for some reason I'm just not usually attracted to asian guys. -shrugs- Might be because of the ones I've gotten to know have ended up falling into the 'like siblings' category.

Stupid. Sexy. Afros.

Which I guess has nothing to do with race, because I will take a perm slapped on any head...but Foxxy Cleopatra's afro is the Sexiest Afro. Right after Aokiji Afro.

I just...prefer blonds, really. There's non-white guys who dye their hair blond and I do find that attractive, so I know it's definitely the hair colour. But I don't know of that many races that have naturally blond hair, so...it comes off looking like 'I like white guys' when it's really 'I prefer blonds.'

I know in my case its definitely certain features that I'm attracted to. I like angular jawlines and chins. I like beards and stubble. I like long hair (dreads and braids included). I like deeper-set eyes. I like really thin lips. I like sharp, down-turned noses. I like blond, red, and black hair (and grey hair if the person is older).

Chances are, if I find someone attractive they have one or more of those features, even if some of their other features are ones I usually wouldn't like.

I'm just attracted to really hot men, regardless of race. But I suppose I do find white facial features on average better looking in my eye.

And I guess I find a lot of Arabic men ridiculously good-looking. The eyes! That hair!

I like olive or darker skin and dark hair that's thick and/or curly, but I've met people of pretty much every race imaginable (right up to pure Irish) that fit those characters, so it's not really a race thing... it just sounds like it is if I describe it to anyone.

(Also that can be completely overridden by various other things, it's not first on the list of 'things I find attractive.' It just ... helps.)
