It's about written relationships as well. It's about the change of attitudes from the characters in question which accommodates for that change in sexual orientation. A straight person won't have the same problems as a gay person, for instance. We can still ignore it, but it still rubs us the wrong way.
Or else if it is porn, we wouldn't pay as much attention, because who really takes porn seriously? I know I don't. At least, most of us wouldn't.
