Well, personally I tend to give no fucks about that as long as it's well written [IE Not suddenly '-POOF- MAGICALLY STRAIGHT/GAY' if their orientation has been confirmed in canon*], it's because pretty much any orientation that *isn't* straight is severly under-represented in the media and well...it *can* be seen as erasure, particularly if you switch the gender of one to make it het**.

*If the orientation is never mentioned, then I don't see the point in caring either way
** It does happen sadly, and it is done for homophobic reasons sometimes.
