i'm dreading the finale. the show was never good by any standards but i love it so much and thinking that they'll most likely kill everybody just for the sake of "accuracy" to the legends (said accuracy never bothering them much in any other storyline) depresses me so.

you have an entire show based around the premise of protecting arthur with sekrit magic

if you end it by not ever revealing the magic and killing arthur WHAT WAS THE DAMN POINT

although considering how terribly they handled the lancelot/gwen fiasco i dont know if it'll ever happen. seriously that was so ham-fisted it could not have been more ham-fisted if they took an actual ham and banged it on the keyboard to write the script.

I'd say "yes", but I'm morbidly fascinated at what the fandom reaction would be if they actually don't go ahead with it.

But then, I was never all that invested in the bromance. For the life of me, I'll never understand why Merlin devoted his life to Arthur, the world's most useless king.

I'm disappointed in almost every aspect of this show. I feel like there's not going to be any wrap-up of all the plot points already floating in the air, and the past episodes have only added more plot lines that will be dropped unsatisfyingly (finally, hello Gwen plo-- oh well that was useless) or will just never be resolved or mentioned again.

I still can't believe they made Merlin tell Arthur not to include the old religion and magic in Camelot. He's become such a depressing doormat of a person just for Arthur's sake (seriously why isn't this show just called Arthur, the most Merlin gets to do is wave his hand and perform the One Spell in Camelot, flinging knights away), what happened to the Merlin of season 1 who stood up for everyone including himself? I can't ship him with anyone anymore HE'S BECOME SO DEPRESSING TO WATCH

even more OT, but I also loved how Morgana performed a magical snapping of ye olde neck, making every other harmful magical spell seem absolutely useless and every assassination attempt of Uther (or anyone else for that matter) look ridiculous and convoluted. In one throw-away scene. /slowclap

re: otp, which I'm assuming is Merthur... I just don't see this series ending with Arthur being alive. They have alluded to it for so long and emphasised the gloominess of Arthur's Fate so much that I can't see them not ending it on his death (despite the fact that there's virtually no peace of the heralded Albion I just idek lol the writing of this show)

At this point I'm almost relieved it's going to end.

Merthur won't happen and I'm glad of it tbh. The only way I would have been okay with Merthur is if they'd done an equally awesome Gwen/Morgana romance. I miss Merlin of yore when I OT4ed the four leads and legitimately bought that they all had cool connections with each other.

To be honest I was gone when they decided to make Morgana evil. I don't care if it's mythologically accurate. This show is so far from being that, that it hardly works as an excuse.

Just the idea of being 'mythologically accurate' makes me LOL. Particularly with Arthurian stuff. Arthurian legend has always been more wibbly-wobbly than Doctor Who (Malory and then T.H. White tried to make sense of it, but didn't really).
