But there's romance novels, and then there's erotica. A lot of erotica is actually significantly more explicit than most fanfic--look for the stuff written by anonymous in the bookstore, with black covers, usually. I'm never really sure where people are getting this impression that smut doesn't get published. There's even kinky smut! It's all at your neighborhood bookstore.
