Re: Non-fandom confessions/unpopular opinions!

(I think this is a misfire but) It depends on what community you're in and who you are and just on chance and circumstance and how people are feeling, whether it's in IRL or online. They're just two different ways of relating to people.

Although it's also possible that my standards for "kind behavior" are a lot lower online than IRL, because I've said before that I find fandomsecrets a fairly low-key, positive, non-aggressive community, which apparently is not the general opinion.

I actually agree with your take on f!s. Usually when I see someone being a total dick, they're either a blatant troll or they get called out on it. Compared to a lot of online communities I've been in, it's pretty laid back.

ayrt

True, for sure. The thing that really shaped the way I see people was through travel. People being nice to you at home in your own country, that's one thing; but the kindness I've see from complete stranger to me, a foreigner, in all these different countries and cultures, it made me feel like people really are good at heart, and jerks are the minority (a loud minority).

I do agree that FS is one of the better communities online. Most of the regulars here take a silly, playful approach to things and I think that helps.
